To try (again), or not to try...

Well, I miss the old SWG, much like everyone else that played it before. I've read all these posts and arguements about it, but I figured I would resubscribe for one month to check it out.

My question is - do you have to have Trials of Obi-One to play now? I have up to Rage of Wookies, but never got the Obi-One expansion. And I don't want to if I'm not going to stick with it. I was hoping to log in, see how many people may actually be on, see what's going on with the changes, etc. BUT, can I even do this without Trials?

Thanks in advance.

From what I understand, you can log in and see the lack of people.  If you want to level up beyond like 60, you need ToOW to do those quests.  Try it out first.

Don't go back. Just leave that dead horse on the side of the road where SOE left it.

I thought this thread was gonna be about wanting a new Star Wars MMO. I know I do, but SWG just sucks now. From the cheesy pictures of the actors from the original trilogy on the character generation screen and in your character's radial skill window, to the clunky, borked, unintuitive controls, the NGE just plain sucks.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that pines for a new Star Wars MMO though. maybe one day...

You get 15 days free, so you're certainly not barred from trying the game out.

You should be able to convert your relative skill level of existing chars to CL80, provided you had two combat masteries.

If you've read the posts you should know, this isn't SWG. Everything that you miss about the game are gone. Sorta like if Satan possessed your wife. You miss her, and it still looks like her, but she's just not the same person anymore. She's evil. Her mind is twisted and she exists only to spread pain and suffering.

It's best to remember the good times, and not taint them with the NGE.

Hmmm...another relapse. The darkside of SWG addiction claims another.

It appears that there are a few populated servers...many have started new toons or transferred toons to these making the less populated more desolate. Some servers are just getting by with what is left player wise. I do not know which galaxy was your 'home', so please keep this in mind.

From what I understand, you will need to fork over the $$$ and get ToOW if you want to level a new toon all the way to lvl 90 in your lifetime (kidding, but level in a acceptable amount of time). If you already have a lvl 80 or better on your old account and have not completed the RoTW quests, then you may escape being forced to purchase the expansion. The 'content' needed to get the quest XP to level your toons to higher levels in the core game is months down the road. The NGE redefined the 'Grind'.

    Good Luck.

My advice is to call a psychiatrist and tell him/her that you're suffering from bouts of irrational decision making. I believe you've been captured by the same organization that has taken obraik. A secret goverment organization design to mentaly condition the public into $OE automatons. Save yourself and cancel now before it's too late, there are many quality MMOs out there just waiting to be tested!

Change your address and phone number and make sure they don't re-capture you and hold you in that tiny metal box. Remember, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean Smedley isn't trying to brainwash you!

    @ OP

You do not need trials to level if you have ROTW , Also they have xp set to 3x at present so it is possible to level through the old grind as well .
