I'm not sure if this is new or not, so forgive me if it's old news. But browsin' around today and I've come to find that Dungeons and Dragons: Stormreach is having a free 7-day trial. Just started the download now so I'm not sure if they're gonna require a credit card or not, but this is an oppurtunity for some people like myself to check it out. Anyways here's the link.
Trial Link HereCheers.

Registered earlier today and still waiting for email confirmation. Can't use another email, I think my spam filter ate it. Looked on the forums, no announcement of a trial or anything. I don't think anyone cares about this game anymore, it's just not good value.

Be interesting to see where this game goes in 6 months, hopefully not down the same path as Horizons if you know what I'm saying.
That would be sad, this is Dungeons and Dragons for crying out loud. Mind you Star Wars is also a big franchise, best leave that can of maggots well alone. DDO isn't a bad game, but the expectations of consumers is so high now. There is so much competition, the thing is that competition doesn't go away [however poor it may be]. It's still there, still has a presence.
Yes, I've slammed Horizons, but I recently tried the trial and the tutorial is an actual tutorial now. There have been real improvements and there is a rumour going about that the game will get an entirely new game engine. A lot of bugs in that game, have actually been fixed. Don't take my word for it, download the free trial. Look at Shadowbane, that's still kicking around. even though everyone got the boot. Then you have all the free games out, the genuinely free ones, not item shop variety. If you haven't seen Planeshift, then download that, the quality is easily on par with p2p games and is totally free forever.

I cant remember a MMORPG (a quality one) that offered a free trial so soon after release... Turbine is struggling.. First the AC2 flop, now this.

You see, every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with their surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You spread to an area, and you multiply, and you multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet.-Mr.Smith

I played some of the beta, and I just started my 7 day trial. I really enjoy DDO, but I don't think it is worth paying a monthly subscription to play. It should've followed NCSoft/ArenaNet's model of Guild Wars.
Other than that, I really like the game. It's a group oriented mmo, which I prefer. No soloing here accept for the first few quests. It has good customization for your character as you progress, varied classes, each with something unique to contribute to the party. I has nicely designed Dungeons, although some are a bit similar.
The gameworld is only the city of Stormreach so far, so it is not a widespread gameworld. I would have preferred more outdoors exploration, but maybe it will come in expansions (of which I also probably would not pay for).
Overall, the game is good, but feels too small, and doesn not have the abundance of content to warrant a monthly fee, at least not at the rate Turbine is charging. (I am not cheap, I carry 3 subscriptions for 3 different mmorpgs, but in this case, I don't think it is a good value).
