Ok, SOE have said time and time again that they will not host a pre-CU server. Pre-CU is dead and gone right? In the rumor thread someone stated Bioware had bought the rights to the pre CU game. Maybe this is the reason SOE keep stating they'll never do it, they're not allowed to. Akewlguy has been talking about May 1st, the poll on here found 65% of refugees would return and play on a SOE run server, how many would play on a bioware one??
Ok, tinfoil hat time, but what if Bioware had bought pre-CU rights knowing there is a market itching for the original game. Many state that SOE said no to pre-CU not just because of losing face but because of server issues/costs which was bollocks, if the game suddenly took off they have servers coming out of their arses.(insert quip here). I read SOE just couldn't handle the original coding which was supposed to be quite tasty.
Akewlguy, CEO of Bioware?? Ok, i'm stretching that one. Still, you have to dream. Come May 1st we'll all know one way or another, meantime delusion is a nice way to enjoy the day.

I hope your right about bioware,but I hope if they do have the rights to pre CU,they will tune it or change the time era,because right in the middle of the GCW before luke was a jedi knight the period is messed up since you cant realy advance the story with players,because that would it it has a end game (you do all of the rebel quests,end up blowing the death star blah blah blah...etc..the end).Would be fun if the game time line was either after the GCW or before the clone wars aka KOTOR age.
If akewlguy is the CEO of Bioware,I dont think alot of people would play any bioware games

The only thing that might be worth something, are the SWG assets (models and graphics), and even those would need to be adapted to more recent concepts. The rest is better coded from scratch (it's really just minor part).
You cannot advance story in a MMO. They rely on having fixed time. Unfortunately, nobody has yet figured out a reasonable design concept to allow story progression in such environments. Guild wars offers one aproach, but sacrifices persistent world for it. Can't do that in SWG.
Digriz, didn't you just resub to Galaxies? Aren't you having a blast with all the new cool loot and iconic gameplay? Why are you thinking about pre-cu? Are you saying something is missing from SWG? Hmmm?

Erk, I think you're right. It has been a year since the first CU.
I'll be sure to wear black to signify mourning of the event.
Also in that time, downtime for servers for a normal "reset" has went from about 60-90 minutes to 4 hours... and that's with less players.... three times a week.
4 hours resets before the CU and NGE were for patches.
Please say I'm not the only old school player to remember that resets use to be quick (but daily)
