Well I have been gone forever. I know, don't remind me. I have pretty much been busy with 3 so-called "serious relationships" since January and none of them have ended up in happiness.
I am taking a break from relationships for awhile. There are just more important things...
The following story just gave me an insight on what really matters in life.
One of my good friends...well, my best friend told me a scary story today that he had not told anyone else except his social worker..not even his parents.
A year ago he had just currently "gotten over this girl" he had liked since grade school. A few nights before she told him she was ready for a relationship with him. I think they are disfunctional soulmates. He still likes the girl today and she still breaks his heart monthly and likewise.
He "got over her" a year ago when she cheated on him in front of his eyes with a guy she just met. Out of spite, he slept with a girl he just met a few days before. He told her after he did it too and told her it was her fault he did it. He felt good about it for awhile, but the next day he crashed. It was also a combination of things, from grades, to his parents.
He ran away from home with a couple dollars...and his revolver. He went to a park that night and decided he was going to kill himself. He thought if he wasn't going to do it then, he never would. He sat down, took his gun out and looked torwards the moon and stars. He put the gun to his head, and pulled the trigger.
Anyone who knows single-action revolvers knows that if you pull the trigger too fast, the hammer hits the chamber and not the pin. That happened. The gun didn't go off. He dropped the gun and walked away.
He walked on for another hour in the dark and found a necklace with a cross on it under a street lamp. He thought to himself what a weak person he had been and how selfish he was. Faith changed his life.
The reason he told me this is that just last week, he finally told this girl that a relationship would never work and she agreed with him. The thing is, he is the only guy who had ever been there for her and she loves him, but knows she would hurt him again. She also doesn't know about his incident a year ago, but if she found out, she would never forgive herself.
He finally made peace with himself and his decisions and was comfortable with telling me this. I of course, was nearly crying since he is practically my brother and since he had kept this to himself for nearly a year.
I just thought this was an amazing story and somewhat of a miracle others would respect.

I'm glad to hear from you again Kiamde, though you probably don't know me since I'm not a very active poster, it's still good to see you again. I must say that your story is a very powerful one and have to agree that it was indeed a miracle. The one in a million chance that the trigger was pulled too fast kept him alive, and because of this, he found faith. Leading him into a more fulfilling life with the final acceptance of his relationship with the girl. I hope things go for the good for both him and you.
EDIT: Oh, and it's good to see you too Vercades and Shae

I hope his new-found faith made him realise how stupid he was to leave a lethal weapon lying around in a public place.
Do people seriously treat the real world as if it were a MMO????
Wow... thats inspiring... im an Atheist so I dont believe in god. But still that makes me want to have some sort of faith... so yah... thanks for posting it? I guess.

I don't think there's any good way to respond other then saying, wow and thanks for sharing.
Although I'm sure that single moment was one of your friends most terrifying experiences to date in his life, one can't help but admire and envy him to a degree, I can't imagine what a sobering event that would be.
Also, call it silly if you like, but I'm a big believer in karma. It sounds like your friend had always been there for this girl, and something somewhere thought that was enough to watch over him during a painfull time.
Important Information regarding Posting and You
Anyway, one post in this thread is from someone who is in their own world. As was your friend during his darkness. I won't even quote or argue about it. I will just mention it. Which, I just did.
Anyway, I am glad your friend made it through. My best friend did not.
Life is simply a thread.
Cartman has a big fat ass!
Strange how things like these always catch my eyes even from my 8 month hiatus.
Hmmm.. miraculous and God intervening..can't say I don't envy this guy. Because now whatever he comes acrossed in life, he's sure he'll be able to handle it..
And, I think you should tell him to take the necklace to a lost and found place someone might be needing it....
welcoem back shae.......
but back on topic
as far as im concerned before anyone can get over any addiction be it alcholol, coke, heroin, pot, or even bad habits, and relationships.
they need an event that terrorizes them to the point of sobering them up.
when i quit booze i had one of those experiences.
so your friends suicide attempt is that event for him.
it made him realize how stupid the situation he was in was, and if it drove him to that point then he doesnt want to be there.
an ex of mine didnt quit doing drugs until she saw someone bleed out of their eyes from nearly/overdosing on something.
we all need kicks in our ass to do things otherwise we would never do anything about bad situations.

He has been trying to get to her up until last week when a teary mutual "breakup" happened between the two. The suicide attempt did not help him get over her. I know this because I knew he was in love with her before I knew of the incident.
And I don't think he will ever be over this girl. She is a sweetheart and is kind at heart, she just makes bad decisions and he knows that. He believes in change and I think he will always have feelings for her and likewise. He has known her since Kindergarten and has protected her since Middle school. Just two weeks ago him and I were at her house during a party and a guy from another school came over and started kissing on her and flirting. My friend stayed there until 3 making sure the guy got home, since she has a very hard time saying "No" to guys. Getting over her would be like getting over a best friend.
There are relationships, and then there are these perfect matches. They are a prime example of this, only with circumstances that cripple their feelings. Think of him as Jon Cryer in Pretty in Pink times 5.
