Hiyas, this game sounds interesting and looks wonderful, but I have some questions after reading some of the game's websites.
If I buy the game today and sign up for the 30 day free pass, do I get billed on the 1st of may automatically? I hope not. If so, I should just wait to activate my account till the 1st of May yes?
Do you only get one character slot and each additional slot is +$1/month? If so I am a bit spoiled from playing world of
warcraft where you get 10 characters/ server for free.
If I only get one character to start off which, what do people suggest for my starter race/class? In wow I have really enjoyed warlocks and hunters.
Ill wait to see if anyone has the time to answer these questsions before I post any more, thanks

First off, it doesn't really matter when in the month you start. You get billed for the month at the first of every month, but when your 30 days free trial are up, you get a prorated bill that charges you only for the fraction of the month from the expiration of your free trial to the following first of the month.
Yes, each additional character slot is $1/mo. But remember that the base rate is $12.95/mo, so for what you paid for WoW you could have three characters. Also remember you can freely switch between jobs, so it's not like WoW where you had to roll up a new character if you wanted to try a new class.
Hum--starting job isn't really that important, since you can switch freely. The only the thing the starting job really means is that you start with a weapon (and if you're a mage, a spell) appropriate to the class, so you'll need to scare up a bit of cash (not much) to get equipment for another job if you want to try that. If you liked Warlock, you might like Black Mage. There's not really anything analogous to Hunter in the basic six jobs available to you at the start. Beastmaster has the pet features of that job, and Ranger has the ranged combat attributes, but those are both advanced jobs; you can't unlock them until you level a job to 30. Your race, on the other hand, is not changeable, and nationality is not easily changed, so a bit more thought should go into that. Read the descriptions as you go through the character creations process. One thing to remember is that if you create a character in a city of the race native to that city (Hume and Galka in Bastok, Elvaan in San d'Oria, Tarutaru and Mithra in Windurst) you get that city's ring as bonus equipment; this gives you some modest stat boosts (the boosts are different for each city's ring). It's not a big thing, but it's something to keep in mind.
