Thanks for responding! As I recall PC Gamer seems to think it will be out this year. It looks like and I hope Hero's Journey will bring something new to the fantasy MMO table.

I was viewing last year's gameplay video again and at one point somebody asks a question (mumbled, hard to hear it) and the answer was:

"Second quarter of 2006."

I listened several times but cannot make out the question, although giving a date in calendar quarters would lead one to believe it was the "When-will-this-game-release?" question -- or it might have been in regards to beta or some other projected date.

Obviously, this game would not be releasing in the second quarter of 2006.

My usual calculations are: beta-start + 6-9 months = projected release date.

And I'm usually wrong.

I say, let them get the game right and have it loaded with fun and new ideas. We don't need half finished MMO's.

Well that's certainly bad news since the official word used to be q2 2006 from multiple sources including the e3 video.

The fact that the release date has been downgraded from a specific quarter to nothing at all is worrisome.

I agree though, I would much rather wait for a excellent product than get a pile O' crap early.

While it seems that there are alot of people that say take your time, I for one sometimes feel a little impatient.  I doubt I am alone, as for several months I just briefly checked on this game and then moved on without a word.  It was getting to the point where I was losing interest as it seemed no release was in sight.  I won't name the competition, but I was drawn to it because I thought maybe I would see a release sometime later this year.  Anyhow, I would like a clear and firm expectation of release.

Hero's Journey will go into beta testing later in 2006 and be
launched commercially in mid-2007.

I'm hoping it will be released this year, but I am not holding my breath. I need to upgrade my pc, also, anyway... and that's always expensive. But I agree... let htem finish it, get all the bugs worked out and have it loaded with lots of fun things. Everything I have read about this game so far has got my attention, for sure. I am seriously looking forward to this game being released!

I don't discredit anyone for doing this. I would much sooner see a company take its time and release a finished product, than have another World of Warcraft, where an unfinished product is released early due to concerns about the competition. The reason companies like Blizzard keep must rework entire classes is that they care only about prompt releases -- not product quality. Impatient though I am, I'm willing to wait, particularly if it means I won't put months into a character whose class gets a complete mechanics overhaul (*cough**cough**Paladin**cough**cough*) three days before it goes live.

Could have sworn they agreed to release it two years from now so that I can have time to play with the character creation module.

We had said at E3 we were looking at beta for the end of the year and a mid 2007 release. The actual release date being dependant on how beta goes.

I need to go visit HJ's site tonight and find the beta application form   This is one of very few titles I'm bothering to keep track of for 2007.  I'd have been watching for it sooner but, like many others, got it confused with Hero Online for a time.
