The issue isn't that you lose something or not and it's not that we care about dying. A SWG server is a community whether you like it or not. There are situations where you need to work together as a faction to achieve a goal. Yeah, currently there isn't much of an incentive for a faction group to get together and work towards other then PvP groups in Theed or where ever. However if the stuff planned in the publish plans come to fruit people are going to need to rely alot on others from their faction (like when bases are re-added, battlefields or PvP rewards). To me it just seems wrong that one minute we're working together killing opposition players and then you're hunting me down for killing the opposition.
SWG is a single player solo game.
And what happened with, if you like to pvp, you'll love to deal with BH?
And BHing is a solo deal as well. No group TEFs or anything similar. And since nobody loses anything, why care? There is no, and absolutely no reason to whine about it, except for e-peen.
And once leaderboards apear, there will be even less reason to group, since ranking will be solo, not by group.
Is it wrong? NO. System allows you to take a bounty on another player. So it's not wrong. Also, does imperial wookie jedi master wearing Jedi Knight robes taking mission from Darth Vader, then going to kill rebels with two BH in mando armor sound wrong to you?
Where are all those tough pvpers now, the "red is dead" and "deal with it"?

Firstly let's make it clear I have no issue with being hunted by a BH, that isn't the issue. The issue (as I state again...) is being hunted by someone who is meant to be on the same team as you. One minute you're fighting along side them in a battle and then next they're hunting you down for the opposition you both just killed. Maybe I (and the others with the same complaint as me) just get into the game and the community side of it more deeply then you do.
Single person solo game eh? Heh, go try that out and see how far you get...

Hmm. As elder Jedi: - Krayts no problem - DWB, slow, steady, risky, but came to the bottom - Mustafar, everything except those places where you need more than 1 person - Kashyyk, didn't bother much since NGE so I don't know, maybe Lord Cysc (sp) might be a problem, maybe avatar, but probably not The rest I don't mention since it's just not worth it
- Leveling, as a BH for example, taking level 80s at level 25 for max xp - Running quests and missions for xp, solo - Weapons and armor, looted or rewards - Pvp, rolled a medic, got to 1805 (only means I died very little, not that I'm that good) pvp rating before quitting the game, played solo
- If I played BH right now, I'd be going solo - Space, get good equipment and neutral overloads, go solo
Yes, you can group. But it's a solo game.
What is it, that cannot be done solo (apart from those mustafar missions)? I might have missed something.
Faction restrictions are a role-playing concept. Everyone likes to talk so much about pvp, and then they get upset over some fictional role-playing restriction. If you can kill it, do it. You either lose nothing, or earn money. It's a no-lose win situation.

For many Pilot squads, Tier 3 and above you'll need a group (especially Storm Squadron, where you need to kill a certain number of spawns before an escort is over and they come in at an fast rate). Heh, Lord Cyssic almost requires 2 groups...
Yeah, there are those out there that can solo the stuff on Mustafar, but your average person can't or they just don't want to. Same goes for Kashyyyk with the Avatar, bottom of the Ryatt, Blackscales compound, etc. Takes those that solo it much longer then being in a group.
Heh, fighting 1v1 or 1v2 if the you're good at your profession might be soloable but anything above that and you will need help. In the situation where you can solo another player, then that player needs a group to take you down
Need armour? Clothes? A house? Etc? Sure, you can make a crafter alt and respec until you have everything you need but why bother doing that when you can go to a current crafter and get it from them?
No, faction restrictions are not a roleplaying thing. Heh, I'm not a roleplayer. It's a teamwork thing - you don't take down your own team mates because they succeded at killing the enemy. If you want to hunt both teams what's the harm in going Neutral?

Unless things have drastically changed, that is not true regarding the pilot squadrons. I used a group to master Storm Squadron when JTL came out. After I learned how to piece my ship together, that changed. I was able to solo Inquistion with my alt, then I soloed all of the other imperial squadrons with my original (for the Ace badges). I helped defeat Cysc with 3 three other ace pilots.
As I said though, things might have changed with the NGE, but when I used my free activation (given to vets that canceled during the NGE or before), I didn't notice a difference with space.
As for Kashyyk and Mustafar. Who cares if those are soloable or not? They are expansions, not the core game. How sad is it that if you want a challenging fight, you have to spend extra money to buy an expansion or two because the basic game has no real challenges.
The armor point is incorrect, unless you are willing to settle with armor without mods. Personally, I am one of those that would do that. I never went for the top of the line krayted weapons, but then I also never PvPed. Supposedly the mod issue will be fixed soon, but I take the "I'll believe it when I see it" philosophy whenever the devs say they will do something.

But you needed a group at first before you really learnt how to be able to pilot on your own. If you didn't have the initial groups, you wouldn't have been at the soloing point so early on. You also had to go to another player to get the neutral chips
When has the core game ever had anything overly challenging? Pre-cu people got buffed and then went out and solo'd everything in their 90% resist armour. Mustafar and Kashyyyk are part of the game, so yes they count.
Heh, you can go with the looted armour if you want, but most people that do end up coming back to me or another armoursmith for the crafted kind since the resists are higher on it. Higher resists = less dying.
For many Pilot squads, Tier 3 and above you'll need a group (especially Storm Squadron, where you need to kill a certain number of spawns before an escort is over and they come in at an fast rate). Heh, Lord Cyssic almost requires 2 groups...
Lord Cyssic last I heard required one Ace Pilot to help who knew how to run that mission. I am average pilot but had no problem getting 4444 pilot. And then someone told me I could use overloads, droids, missiles and bombs. After that, the vette went down in 3rd try. Solo.
But JTL is beyond the scope of NGE so it makes moot point.
Yeah, there are those out there that can solo the stuff on Mustafar, but your average person can't or they just don't want to. Same goes for Kashyyyk with the Avatar, bottom of the Ryatt, Blackscales compound, etc. Takes those that solo it much longer then being in a group.
The average person I know that stayed for NGE complained, whined and moaned about how they needed other people to do anything. They just couldn't stand interdependancy. There were people who quit because they could not solo level from the start. They got one or two boxes then said something about forced grouping and were never seen in game again.
Need armour?
Got it as level up reward, and looted tons of modded! pieces along the way
Clothes?
WTF ARE TEH CLOTHESES!!11 I WNT TO PWN. I DONT NED NO STINGIN CLOTHERS.
Heh. Um, sorry. Yea, clothes can be looted (robes that is, these are the only clothes that matter, and others can be looted now as well). Entertainers don't really count. Everyone else uses armor and armor only. Since you're pvping 24/7, and you can get a BH after you at any time, you do not want to wear clothes.
A house?
Plenty of them still at bazaar. And architects are long gone, since structure maintainance removal made them obsolete. One architect can supply entire server with houses. At least they did on Bria. After second one went out of business.

There's a BH terminal. If I click, I accept the mission. I complete the mission by killing the bounty. Nothing, and nothing at all, offers the advantage of not taking such a mission anymore.
Therefore, it's a role-playing aspect, not to take certain missions.
Just like you could role-play you're a Bantha protector, and not kill any banthas. And post on forums about people who do.
I respected same faction restrictions when they served a purpose. Now they don't.
Or, you could role-play traitor to the rebellion, and kill only your own faction. You know, Anakin style. Isn't that starwarsy and iconic?
Originally posted by Obraik But you needed a group at first before you really learnt how to be able to pilot on your own. If you didn't have the initial groups, you wouldn't have been at the soloing point so early on. You also had to go to another player to get the neutral chips
I am not going to say that the game isn't completely soloable, if you count the time needed to learn how the game system works (like when JTL came out). However, once you learn the system, it is surprisingly easy to solo.
Having to go to another player to get the neutral chip? Never had to. If I wanted to, I could have gone to the vendor search and found what I wanted through that. Then just go to the vendor and buy the chip. That is a considerable amount of player interaction, wouldn't you say?
When has the core game ever had anything overly challenging? Pre-cu people got buffed and then went out and solo'd everything in their 90% resist armour. Mustafar and Kashyyyk are part of the game, so yes they count.
When the vette came out, it was a challenge. It actually remained a decent challenge until the CU, then it became either jokingly easy (neutral vette with CL 25 mobs) or extremely difficult (CL 196 SBDs). The DWB was also a challenge.
While neither of these were part of the original launch, they were both available without requiring an expansion, therefore part of the core game.
If you don't buy the expansions, then Mustafar and Kashyyyk are NOT part of the game, so they actually don't count. My point was that if you can only find a decent challenge in the expansions, then there is something wrong with the game itself.
Just out of curiosity, I didn't try the vette during my free activation. Did that get horrifically easy? One of the few guildmates that was left was working on her third jetpack by soloing the DWB, so I assumed that the vette was reduced in challenge as well.
Heh, you can go with the looted armour if you want, but most people that do end up coming back to me or another armoursmith for the crafted kind since the resists are higher on it. Higher resists = less dying.
When I logged in, I had to respec my character. I was inbetween templates at the time I quit, so I ended up becoming a CL 61 jedi. In the CU, I didn't use those robes (great way to spotlight yourself to a BH) so I was wearing regular clothes. I proceeded to check the combat system and found myself able to solo mobs 20 CLs higher than me easily, without armor. Oh, and I couldn't wear my elder robe either, so don't think that I was using that. It required a CL of 80.
If I was in PvP, maybe I would need higher resists, however I already stated that I don't PvP. Honestly, PvP seems like it would be over so quick, why bother going out to get the best gear anyways?
Originally posted by MX13 Actually, I have to disagree with here, the real problem is the stupidity of the Dev's. Let's really consider this: Rebel A <Kills> Imp B <who then takes out a bounty on> Rebel A <Which is then collected by> Rebel B? How does it make sense, or Star Warsy, that a Rebel would hunt down a Rebel for an Imperial? I mean, come on SOE... wow... Dev's should either:
Make it impossible for Same Faction Bounties. or...
Have Faction Bounties result in HUGE Faction Point Rewards / Penalties. I mean, wouldn't the Rebels reward a Rebel for killing a Wanted Imp? Have Negative Faction in your own Faction Result in a Bounty being placed on you by your Faction. These guys are just Clueless...

but fixing faction bounties is the last of there worries. titanic and deckchairs come to mind

The rest I don't mention since it's just not worth it

The average person I know that stayed for NGE complained, whined and moaned about how they needed other people to do anything. They just couldn't stand interdependancy. There were people who quit because they could not solo level from the start. They got one or two boxes then said something about forced grouping and were never seen in game again.
Got it as level up reward, and looted tons of modded! pieces along the way WTF ARE TEH CLOTHESES!!11 I WNT TO PWN. I DONT NED NO STINGIN CLOTHERS.Heh. Um, sorry. Yea, clothes can be looted (robes that is, these are the only clothes that matter, and others can be looted now as well). Entertainers don't really count. Everyone else uses armor and armor only. Since you're pvping 24/7, and you can get a BH after you at any time, you do not want to wear clothes.
I am not going to say that the game isn't completely soloable, if you count the time needed to learn how the game system works (like when JTL came out). However, once you learn the system, it is surprisingly easy to solo.
Having to go to another player to get the neutral chip? Never had to. If I wanted to, I could have gone to the vendor search and found what I wanted through that. Then just go to the vendor and buy the chip. That is a considerable amount of player interaction, wouldn't you say?

/agree
but fixing faction bounties is the last of there worries. titanic and deckchairs come to mind
Tin Foil hats dont work.. its all a conspiracy
