E3 Announcement

MX13MX13 Member Posts: 2,489

SOE & LA have bet it all on this E3. The whole pot. So....

E3 is coming fast, so what will be the "game altering announcement that will change the game, the GCW, and the face of at least one planet forever"?

The Dev's claim at E3 they will be making a non-expansion announcement that will save the game. What could they possibly announce that could do that?

My guess: A Third Faction.

The Underworld Faction, probably part (if not all) of the rumored GWC Expansion they, and a Dev's Resume, talked about before the players finally got them to "focus on bugs" (LMAO).

My Second Guess: Pre-CU "Classic" Servers.

The only real way to save the game, and yes, I know they won't but I can dream.

Any other guesses?

I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

In fact, forget the SWG!!!!

Bringing back the Story Arc, with a bunch of quest and probably instanced areas since they seem to be leaning towards that instead of adding planets.

    - Static, conquerable bases for GCW.
    - Leader boards.
    - Profession specializations

Takes almost no effort to implement, and all of which seems to be popular with NGE crowd.

    My guess?

Another fake video of the game being actually something resembling fun.

I can see the headline now, from the folks that brought you the Smuggler Jawa Junk Trader Revamp....

From what Ive gathered through my inside source is this....

they're remaking Rori over into a factional war planet. They chose Rori because its the least popular planet with the least amount of player cities to be affected.

They are adding a 3rd underworld faction known as the Hutts. It will include missions for Jabba and his henchman.

It all sounded decent but my source says its typical SOE talk with no real substance. The GCW revamp isnt that different from what the game already had before the NGE broke everything. Theyre adding bases and control of cities on Rori is possible so nothing new really.

The Hutt missions are just that, missions and if the Legacy quest is any indication...BORING.

Thats it, thats all there is to it. But of course SOE/LA will make it sound like the second coming of a great game

This isn't the GCW revamp, that's not until publish 31.  This is just a high level GCW themepark they're introducing.  I had heard that it was being added to Bestine (a dev a few months back posted "hypothetically" about something like that being put in Bestine) but I guess we'll find out in a few weeks.  Rori wouldn't be too bad and heh, it would give people a reason to actually go to Rori...

As for the quest quality, from what I understand it's being done by the expansion team.  The ToOW quests were alot of fun so here's hoping they'll be of that level or better :)  Legacy quests were done by the Live team I believe (because the expansion team was working on ToOW at the time, and then the cancelled expansion)

The only thing I've heard is that they are creating a new themepark-like area based on the GCW for the higher level players. They said it was going to be showcased at the E3 and then put on live for publish 29. This was said by the developers themselves in the SWG forums.

I don't think the third faction sounds particularly likely, though I would like to see it happen. They've said multiple times that the idea of a neutral faction takes the fun out of the GCW.

EDIT - Regarding the quest quality, I'm doing the legacy quests now with my alt. The Tattooine
stuff is very bland and boring. Literally, "drive here and kill x
enemies". I hated it. You could tell they were trying to cram as many quests as
possible into as little development time as possible. Once you get to
the Naboo stuff (I think it was added in pub26 or 27), it gets a LOT
better. I actually found myself impressed with one of the quests (the
one where you follow the diary of a named boss you killed in a previous
quest) and I'm looking forward to doing more.

The Naboo parts had always been part of the Legacy quest.  The Corellia part, especially the new stuff they added with Pub 28 gets even better.  I also got an interesting reward from the new Pub 28 quests - a device with 2 charges to heal an NPC.  The suspicious side of me thinks that it could have something to do with this new Pub 29 themepark...

So basically they are re adding battle fields, and updating rori.. This cant possibly be the new exciting shock and awe campaign that will change SWG for the better...

Well based on the past performance which is always the best indicator of future....I would have to say we are due for another "combat revamp(CR)". Which at this stage is like getting a tune up for your car when it is half built.

Just joking. (although odds are I'm close)

They have been probing lately about the GCW and the neutral faction so my guess is also along those lines.

What would I like to see? I would sincerly like for Sony to announce a timetable on which any version of this game would be complete.

Once the game is complete they could do all the tweeking and revamping they like but please just show us what it would look like when it is done!

If all they plan to do is add some laim little GCW theme park in Bestine, that would be such small scale uninspired cop out in the history of gaming.

I want to see Star Destroyers slugging it out with rebel cruisers, I want to see PvP squadrons of rebel and Impiral ships shooting each other to pieces, I want to see Impiral walkers stepping on rebel troopers, I want to see stormtroopers en mass, shaking down people in Mos Eisly. I want to see gang wars in the back streets of cities. I want to see smugglers trying to fast talk their way out of an Impiral inspection. Thats GCW. Cry havok and let loose the dogs of war!

I would also like to see this game just stuffed with lore based content. I mean whats up with that? The easiest task in the world that anyone who knows anything about SW could come up with is a bunch of SW based adventures? They can come up with 1000 "quest" for EQII in about 5 months after the launch (although they where almost all mindless kill/collection task) point is they where able to do "something". Why the f*** is this any different? Its not like they haven't had enough time. The legacy quest, whatever you think of them, are sort of a step inthe right direction but come on, its not even close to enough for a game as old as this. Horizons has more f***ing content then this game.

You all are not going to happy until you make me lead creative whatever of this game.

I am willing to bet the new "high level conent" will simply be a mix of , The village and those lame kill quests Vader and Luke pass out in Theed . All packed  into a Level based instanced zone .

If not, I'll know for sure Wednesday. If someone else hasn't announced it, I'll post what I find.

Don't be ridiculous...those guesses are logical , it's more likekly that they are planning to make 50% of everyones items useless and give out wall placks in compensation again.

    I got it!

The announcement they will be making at E3 will the the TRUTH, that's right the only thing that can awe people at this point is the truth.

And the truth: All this time, all this effort, has been a plot to drive every Sci-fi, Star Wars fan to the brink of insanity just to see what happens. But it goes deeper then that, all of this was a plot by "the man" himself to drive us into wanting to play Star Trek Online because he's sold all his remaining Star Wars stockhold and baught out a large share of the Star Trek stockhold.

However there is a second possible outcome which I could only get a glimps at (you know how tight these government agentsies keep their secrets. it's easier to find out information about UFO's than the Government's top secret Star Wars Galaxies project!). Yes we were ment to be pushed into the break of insanity, only to be more subseptible to subconcious, subliminal messages. Get us all angry enough and we're ready to kill, ready to fight a war we don't agree with. they went to Goarge and said "our country needs troops, and you're going to get them for us!"

P.S. sorry been up for far too long, cannot even remember how to spell Goarge correctly (or even if I'm writing in english).

My guess, the capital ships they've been teasing people with since last E3...  Then they'll take 6 to 8 months in releasing them and they'll still be broken anyway.

Second guess: "Smuggler revamp!"  "No, seriously guys...  Stop laughing!" - Smed

SOE knows what you like... You don't!
And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!
