~Thanks!

From what I have read it appears you will start out in small villages and work your way towards the capital city. There are 3 continents all with different races. Your race determines what continent you start on. I don't know if all races on a continent start in the same starter village, a number of villages or seperate ones for each race. But it appears it is a bit like WoW in that as you level up you move towards the big city for that continent. It sounds like there will be one big capital city for each continent. But I am also guessing there will be other cities on each continent. Player built cities will not be in at release but players will be able to buy plots at release and build towns with hosues, crafting stations, boats and other buildings.
Keep in mind that cities are also being designed to be the dungeons for diplomats. where diplomats can level their by interacting with townfolk. At some point when city building is installed diplomats will also be resposnible for many city managing tasks that will make player made cities stronger and healthier. Because the cities will be used for more than just obtaining quests, selling, storage and buying we should expect them to be possibly much bigger to accomodate the diplomat sphere.
But little is known as the game is still in very early beta.
If you want more information you might want to take a look at the silky venom FAQ. It is very well done and the best source of VSOH information.

Just read the entire silkyvenom.com faq on crafting....
I think I just wet my pants...
Crafting seems to be eons ahead of WoW, more imaginative and thrilling than SWG....I'm speechless...
Edit: A New Home ( Hope ) for the legions of SWG Refugees?
A new ranger preview just came out today as well.

There should be a ton of new information between now and the end of E3.

lol sounds like a eq1 ranger only better, thanks for the info once again bro!
read this http://www.vanguardsoh.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1044304#post1044304 then come back and talk to me about the vanguard/soe fiasco.....
Good info there.
I was wanting to play a Ranger very much in Vanguard but was worried that the Ranger might have too much emphasis on "outdoors" and not be group-friendly.
However, this new info allays my fears.

The first really show stopper in EQ2 for me was the lack of world depth that it had. The original EQI game minus expansions circa 1999 had at least ten starting cities and normally two to three areas around those starting cities for leveling up and getting better. I understood that a big boom happened in EQII but that felt cheesy and like a deliberate cop out. I had pride in my Dark Elf from Neriak when I played EQI but couldn't give two flips about my immigrant misplaced no-god having Ogre in EQII. It seems EQII is finally catching a clue since the next expansion will bring back Kelethin as a new starting city and also rumours of the gods finally returning. If anything could save EQII it would be a massive insurgence of cool stuff from EQI that they forgot about. Have some evil god plottings and some Tunare thunderstorms and some Sarnak Knights and Drovarg sentrys running around kicking butt.
Sorry had a little EQI withdrawal there....I just believe EQ2 could have a million subscribers if they had've been more EQish. Vanguard having mulitple starting continents and cities is one of the biggest reasons I am hyped about this game. Some people don't care but I want my avatar to have a "place" in the world. I want to know that Gnomes are delicacies to my evil race or that I hate Dark Elves because they are twisted versions of my elf character etc. That seems to be missing in many of today's MMORPGs
OH NO, CANCELLING ALL THREE HUNDRED AND FORTY SEVEN OF MY PRE-ORDERS ASAP.
THANK YOU, BENNYLONG, FOR YOU ARE A GOD AMONG MEN FOR SHARING THIS INSIGHT AMONGST US PEONS.
EDIT: Just playing dawg, guess we see how she ends up eh?
