Animists are a pain!

If u ask me they need at least a small nerf to their shrooms, they are more annoying than vamps and when in a ck or tower will just keep sending those little buggers out. They can send out more than 3 and I have been hit for 175+ damage per shroom per hit and their spells are insta stuns as well so most of the time u are screwed and cant run. If they dont need a nerf then whats a good way to take these suckers down?

Animists shrooms do not have instant stun.  Different shrooms have different abilities.  There are tangelers you can cast that have root, but the root is broken when you take damage. If you think animists are a pain, then look at theurgists with their pet spam.

The first thing you do is to not target the animist, but the shrooms.  You have AoE spells take out as many as possible.  This makes it easier to get to the actual animist.  It also will require the animist to recast.  Further, each shroom only last 2 minutes.  So you use AoE to take the the shrooms, spend in pets to attack the caster, try to get a LOS on the animist and shoot with a bow or spell.

Also, I would suggest making sure that your resists are caped.  That will help to minimize the damage you take.

If an animist is set up in a bridge tower or a keep, my advice is to stay away unless you can aoe the crap out of them like Julian suggested. An animist set up to camp an area is one tough nut to crack.

Julian while I agree that a theurgist's pets are also tough, a theurgist cant just cast 6 ice pets and have them wait for the next guy to walk by. Thats a big difference. I know you know that they are different im not trying to suggest that you dont. Just taking exception with the comparison.

I was just pointing out that theurgists can be just as much of a pain.  Nothing like an amry of hundreds of ice golems comming at you that cause massive damage.  True they are not stationary, but you can cast and many as you want.

It is really funny though to see an armpy of ice elementals going through a field of shrooms :)

    QFT

Between the two I'd rather deal with the Animist as the shrooms don't hit past 1k where as the theurgists pets will follow seemingly non-stop.  I once had earth elemental pets follow my toon from the Hib bridge in Thid all they way back to HPK before they were killed by the NPCs on the PK wall.  As others have pointed out, just stand back 1k or better from the shroom and attack them, use pets or just wait a few minutes.  Most shrooms last around 2 minutes or less (and at max shrooms can leave  the animist low on power if not drained without mind regen bonuses) and will die in a couple of hits which adds balance to their damage.  For de-rooting from bridges and other locations, that varies upon class and relam; however, all who can GTAE can always plant attacks in places where shrooms hide.
