everyone does complain about DnL when really all they know about is SOG but like i played SOG and it was horrible and i realize that but they have basically nothing of what was promised in the full game in SOG it was only there to allow you to get an extreamly basic idea of the game (kind of like a trailor to a movie) unfortuanetely many people did not realize this and though the game still may be very bad i am also going to wait until release and then make my judgement im currently optimistic.

Doesn't this sound awfully familiar? This line of reasoning has been going on for YEARS! What has been the result so far? SOG.
Has anyone provided a lucid, valid reason why on EARTH any developer would release SOG, "it's a version completely without any content" as a prelude to the 'forthcoming' (*cough*) MMORPG?

I would imagine the developers were anxious to stress test their new server cluster technology and yes it was stressed and lots (as in lots and lots) of bugs were discovered. Their anti-hacking defense was also weak. This stress testing required many more people than their beta testing program could provide and SOG provided the needed thousands of players online at the same time. As far as I can see these problems have been corrected but the programming time this demanded meant that the planned content additions were not made (much to the disappointment of all).
Remember this is the first MMORPG server cluster with dynamic loading and yes large lag free battles (I would guess around 100 characters from the battles I have been in) have occured in later SOG at arbitrary places on the map (not at predfined heavy load areas). Client side lag still occurs though when lots of textures need to be rendered quickly as when you get close to lots of large MOBs with all sorts of magic spells going off.
So DnL will be launched with only the devs internal beta testing being done on the content. So like most others who have posted here I am withholding judgement until I play the game. Still, I hope for the best since this game is pushing new technology that if successful will lead to better online games for us all in the future.

OK, I had high hopes for this game, Hell I am a pioneer too!! But I am sorry, There is no hope for this one.. There is no reason to think that it wont be like SOG, SOG was the actual Beta of dark and Light!! Cmon now!! do u really think That they "reworked" the game, Made a new(decent) game engine, Graphics etc??
