Is the keycode in PC Gamer an actual trial key?

I just got my May edition of PC Gamer and there's an acces key "to receive an exclusive in game mission and a fantastic reward".  It doesn't specifically say that it's a trial key, but it does say "access" so I'm doubtful.  Has anyone used this as a trial?  I'm dying to try this game.

    I used the key in the magazine.  No, it's not a trial account.  It just gives you some more skill points to add to your character and an in-game copy of the cover to PC Gamer.

    How do you use the key? once ingame somehow? Or ..? How does it work?

    Skill points you say?? How many? What do you do with the ingame cover? Is it just in your inventory and you can view it, that sounds kinda lame. Do the skill points apply to all toons, or just one?

    The PC Gamer code is used by "Up grading" your Play NC account for Auto Assault.   Simply log into Play NC and then click the upgrade button.

    You get 2 Attribute Points; the PC Gamer magazine in your "mission inventory" is then used for a mission to "take an old copy of PC Gamer to someone" (cant remember who).  The points and mission apply to all characters just like the Collectors Edition RC Cars.
