My Views On Classes

Enforcers - Police and army forces in Fallen Earth. They are there to keep the peace and stop trouble. The Enforcers are trying to get some kind of law and order in civilisation. It seems as they are like modern day armed police men, people wont cause trouble if they have guns and they are just trying to do there job.

C.H.O.T.A - Rather than being political and trying to restore peace like the Enforcers the C.H.O.T.A  try to stop any attempts of peace being restored. They are everyones enemys and don't have any allies. You could say they are like terrosists in modern day perspective.

Vistas - The Vistas are devoted in trying to preserve the natural world. They seem like people who and trying to save the world. In a modern day perspective I would say they are like hippys trying to save the world from any more disaster.

Techs - The Techs are trying to advance in scientific research and discover new things. Some say the Techs may have played a part in causing the fall. The techs to me are like scientists that are trying to help science yet they are also causing various problems.

Lightbearers - These are healers/magic users. Trying to bring light into world where it is needed. I would say they are like Aiders/charities in modern day as they go to places where help is needed most!

Travellers - The traverlers are against both the enforcers and the C.H.O.T.A. Forming street gans they cause trouble and having fun whenever they can in the last few days of earth. I think the traverlers are best suited to thiefs/trouble causers in modern day.

Isn't that exactly how they are described anyway?

These guys (after reading the news letters) are the forces of order. And by that I mean they force order upon others. Many accept it, but sometimes when people just want help with raiders they get Enforcers based in their town and have to pay a portion of their resources to the Enforcers to pay for protection. Military style organization, haven't seen any other form of government. Believed dictatorship or military junta council.

Allied to the Techs and enemies of the CHOTA.

C.H.O.T.A - Rather than being political and trying to restore peace like the Enforcers the C.H.O.T.A  try to stop any attempts of peace being restored. They are everyones enemys and don't have any allies. You could say they are like terrosists in modern day perspective.

They seem like terrorists because you are looking at it from the Enforcer perspective. These are people who want to live without others ruling over them, which they believe caused the fall. The are most likely the largest group, as they draw both people who are wishing to be independent and bloodthirsty savages who are used to fight the Enforcers. Think of William Wallace in Braveheart, they are savage, but are civil to those that treat them equally. "Guided Anarchy," as there is one leader, who just moves to make more freedom for all and uses his power for nothing else.

Allied to the Vistas and enemies of the Enforcers.

Vistas - The Vistas are devoted in trying to preserve the natural world. They seem like people who and trying to save the world. In a modern day perspective I would say they are like hippys trying to save the world from any more disaster.

These people grow more food than anyone, and have a huge anti-technology slant. They will destroy tech anytime they can, and have people called "rangers" who might be using bows rather than guns. Most groups are friendly to the Vistas because of the amount of food they grow and trade, but only the CHOTA don't care about the anti-tech slant. Towns use direct democracy style governments (everyone votes on every action).

Allied to the CHOTA and enemies of the Techs.

Techs - The Techs are trying to advance in scientific research and discover new things. Some say the Techs may have played a part in causing the fall. The techs to me are like scientists that are trying to help science yet they are also causing various problems.

Basically your applied science freaks, they think technology will bring us back to our golden age. Always have the most advanced items around, they are few but those few are strong. They believe that the Vistas are being somewhat childish and that technology would only ehance their crop growth, not hinder it (even though they are not able to get the crop yield of the Vistas). Known to expirament on mutant creatures and humans. Organization style unknown, possibly technocracy (best at the top, worst at the bottom).

Allied with the Enforcers and enemies of the Vistas.

Lightbearers - These are healers/magic users. Trying to bring light into world where it is needed. I would say they are like Aiders/charities in modern day as they go to places where help is needed most!

These people are definately healers, however it seems like they don't go out to help people, but just allow people to come to them. They are also masters at unarmed combat (Monks if you will) and do not use other weapons. They also are trying to bring about the next level of human evolution through expiraments on mutant folks, who they adore almost as gods. Their goal is to make all humanity to "ascend" to the next level, and I would be wary of their medicines.  Leadership unknown.

Allied to none, but none are direct enemies, as Lightbearers will treat anyone and are normally of limits to attacks even if people are wary of their practices.

Travellers - The traverlers are against both the enforcers and the C.H.O.T.A. Forming street gans they cause trouble and having fun whenever they can in the last few days of earth. I think the traverlers are best suited to thiefs/trouble causers in modern day.

You think to small in your description. These are not street gangs and theives. These are cartels with their hands on vast amounts of supplies, crime families extorting protection for payment, criminal masterminds polluting wells and paying raiders in an area to be able to open up the only water trade in the area. These folks, while being the assassins and the mercenaries, are also the largest group of traders around and have the biggest supply of everything, as well as the largest amount of scouts and the best maps because of their need to trade. They supplied the CHOTA when they rebelled against what they saw as the Enforcers trying to control them, and have been out in the wastes the longest.

Allied to none, but all use them at one time or another, even the "crime-free" enforcers use them for dirty work sometimes.

There is no "good guys" "bad guys" split here, just different ideologies. You have 2 main sides, Order and Freedom, and then you have varrying ideas on how to attain that. All of this came from my understanding of the newsletters, interviews, and website for Fallen Earth.

Please don't eat me if I'm splitting hairs.... don't mean to...

But... they aren't classes... just factions... It is my understanding, that you don't get a special skill tree or special abilities by joining either of them, but rather get access to the networks of the respective factions...

That's how I read it, anyways...

That's right - they are just the factions

There are no "classes", "skill trees", "professions" or any form of preprescribed structure for character progression. The game is effectively "classless" where each character is fully customisable and unique.

We are given a set number of AP points to use as the player sees fit. Each character is fully customisable and unique. Skills are developed as you progress through the game, the exact system is still unknown however we know that you must "discover" certain techniques and have the opportunity to develop special mutant abilities via DNA splicing.

You don't join a faction at character creation, or at any other time, and do not have to directly interact with the factions at all if u choose not to. You affiliate with them by doing missions for them, which subsequently makes them friendly with you, their enemies hate you, and gives you access to their resources.

Of course, doing alot of missions for a certain faction may influence the skills you choose to give your character. Players who align themselves with Vistas are going to be better at surviving in the wild, stealth, tracking and farming because they would need those skills to perform the type of missions the Vistas would assign. Enforcers would become weapons specialists because their missions would most likely consist of killing things, defending caravans/outposts, or law enforcement/bounty hunting. Travelers would be nice with trade, assassination or alike, thus encouraging the player to choose trade skills or assassin skills to help them complete their missions.

However, there is bound to be further diversity within the factions themselves...some Travelers might be skilled killers, while others would be sabatoeurs or even traders and crafters.

(Note: This is not a static gain mechanic like joining faction A will give u bonuses to attributes X,Y,Z)

I would think of the Travelers as more of a black market racket. They are a series of "families" who roam around the wastes. They are in the pursuit of riches and are therefore involved in nearly all "criminal" activity around the Enclave but are also the best traders and mercinaries/assassins (note: not everyone will want to hire the Enforcers because of their "order"-ness and anti-crime-ness).

Overall, the Enforcers don't like the Travelers but they use them all the time...also the Chota frequently use the Travelers too...they are the folk nobody wants to use or have around but they desperately need their "services".

Street gangs and raiders would exist, but they would more likely be independent of the factions. The factions are the highly complex and powerful forces of the Fallen Earth world.

D'oh! Bree'ah and adrir, you two got the point I missed. They aren't classes they're factions, and have nothing to do with any sort of classes, skill trees, professions, or any type of structured character advancement.

Bree'ah and Adrir you've both just opened a new door for me. I havn't been putting much thought into the character types as much as the world itself, but with that explanation of what character building may consist of. Makes me realize how much greater I didn't know this game was.

    Thanks guys for that.
