It's one thing what arrogant politicians say and it's another, what the people say. You are right. The world sees you as complete morons, but not because your entertainment, but because of your politics in the last years. But this is another story.
Intelligent people try (at least) to separate politics from normal life. It's hard to stay away from the effect of all present anti americanism, but fortunately I was more often there to know, that politics != people. Although there are a few things, i don't like in america (like the already mentioned double moral standards), I know, that those things come from politics too...
But don't let to degenerate this topic into pro and contra american discussion.
