I remember when it was all virtual fields..

Rarely post on here..even though been a member for sometime now.

I'm wondering how many of you younger players , ie: 16-24ish will still be playing mmorpgs in 10 years..

I say this as a 10+ year mmorpger now in my mid 30's , who is coming to the end of his mmorpg career..I feel it's becoming far too money orientated. Companies seem to have tapped into the greed+power element that drives gamers now...gone are the days when teamwork and laughs kept us playing.

I know there are still a few groups who still believe and play that way , but more and more i see racism , bullying , cheating/scamming and of course botters/farmers etc in every new game released.

Unfortunately i don't see any solution to these constant gaming plagues...gaming used to be a great thrill , making new friends exploring uncharted areas.......now it's just a childrens playground with no honour , discipline or supervision...

Gaming companies will never put players before profits...long as you can pay , who cares right !....roll on 2016..:/

That's because every company and their dog is making an MMO now. After the success of UO and EQ, everyone was like "hey, let's copy the 3D one and make lots of money! It'll work because people will think they're getting something new when they're really just playing a watered down version of the original with better graphics and a larger but much less occupied world!"

I totally agree..Also noticed the new mmorpg trend companies seem to be adopting.." Free 2 Play "..no catch ?..apart from the buy items shop...sigh..hackers/scammers cheaters flock to these mmorpgs and destroy them.Little if nothing is done to fix it either...cash in mmorpgs are taking over.

Well I have starting to feel this too and I have been playing mmo's ever since UO.

For this growing commercial tendencies I have tried to find a small time or even free game. I started two years ago and really tried so many, many, many thing. While of cours estill trying paying games.

Eventually I found the game that perfectly fitted me. But i wonder if it is good for everyone. It's clear it can only support so little players.

I keep saying this: if all the little companies were to unite and would try to find a concencus for all their good ideas then I think there would be hope for all lost mmo'ers around.

And yes, in 10 years I will still be playing mmo's.

Thank God for muds, Guild Wars and the upcomming Phantasy Star Universe or I would have nothing to do online. Don't lose hope dude, there are open-source 3D engines and client /server libraries that will make MMORPG developement a reality for hobbyists. I expect we'll be seeing more "graphical muds" in the next 5 years or so. ::::20::
