Would you return to SWG if they created Classic Servers as it was on original release (pre-cu, hologrind) with the promise of no major updates? Please give reasons why or why not.
Please be kind and begin your reply with "Yes" "No" or "Maybe".
I have answered with yes. Although I continue to hold ill-feelings towards SOE/LA for their callous actions towards their subscribers. I have played classic servers on DAOC and felt it was a good gesture. There is no better game out there than classic SWG (shrug). My answer is yes I would.
No doc buffs, no comp armor, and no hologrind? Where do I sign? And sorry but major updates would have to happen, but I wouldn't mind them happening slower and with more time put into them. 1 Publish every 6 months - 1 year would satistify me as long as they didn't unbalance the game..
Sorry I dont mean to flame but please stop posting these type of polls ,there have being alot of them ... but anyway to stay on topic of the thread,I voted no,SOE will probably ruin it again as they have done before.
Even if you could get the SWG staff to read this you couldn't make them care.
and I voted 'no'. While I loved the pre NGE and there is unfortunitly no game like it around I don't trust or like SoE and that is enough for me to never play a game they develope or produce again.
Maybe for me. I absolutely loved the pre-CU - - crafting was never more fun, and the group PvP was fantastic. I do not want the holgrind Jedi powergamers back. I do not want to see some of the exploits in the crafting and player economy back either. We may not get content per se, but I do want to see more of a polished game when it comes to any bug that allows game breaking exploits. I know....this is asking for a lot.
1. I have no interest in doing the hologrind again, which I'd have to do since pre-pub 9 Jedi was the best prof in the game. It was a completely different style of play from any other prof and the rest of the game. The grind sucked, but the prof itself was very well done and only needed a balance pass to bring it up to speed.
2. I don't trust $OE farther than I could throw it. $OE is the company that killed Star Wars. I wish I had a dollar for every Star Wars fan that was turned off of Star Wars by the SWG experience. How bad a company do you have to be to fail with Star Wars? It boggles the mind.
3. Having one char per server sucked. Give me 4 or 5, and I'd warm up a little.
4. No updates? Forget it. Too many bugs from the early release. I'll bet Joz Jodhul is still bugged and has been since beta.
5. Lack of content.
6. Permadeath sucked.
7. Lack of Jedi content.
8. I don't see the Pre-CR game with blind notstalgia. It's CR not CU. The U stands for upgrade, which the combat revamp wasn't.
9. I'm content to wait for SWG2, STO or Stargateworlds.
10. However, if it was a Classic Exchange Server, and if I got more than one char, I'd be there with bells on. If playing it feels like a 2nd job, I may as well get paid for it.
I also voted Yes, again as the man said no Comp, no Doctor Buffs, I accept the Music Buffs, (gave them something to do besides being a chat room) Ubese only, remove the stoopid mistake weapons that existed, no damn village, nuke the frigging thing, now my only issues would still be pet trainers and the mining, but if they retruned it to about July 2004, I believe my mates and I would all return, as long as them fecking coders just left it alone, no tweeks, no fixes, no balancing, and most of all no Jedi, if they want jedi then they should all be overt all the time so we can all gank them at will, sorry one more time NO DAMN JEDI, is swg not JEDI world, o yes and I would only have one account this time, I would promise my wife

Actually SWG is all about the Jedi and Sith, so a game without them, wouldn't be Star Wars at all.
I voted yes, but if there were game breaking bugs, I would quit again. If there were no way to become a Jedi, I would quit. The only reason why I watched Star Wars and am a fan of it, is because of the Jedi and Sith, not the stupid Rebel and Imperial Soldiers or the Bounty Hunters or the pilots. So the only reason I would play the game is if I can become a Jedi or Sith. But I'm not like other people, I roleplay my character, I wouldn't gank people at Starports with a Jedi.
They shamed themselves to the community. They showed indefference in public opinion and only created small enviroments when it came to their decision making about throwing away years of players game play and community building.
Besides that I know even if they did return to pre-cu or pre-nge they would support it even less than they did before. Their customer service is one of the lowest rated in the industry (and if its not it should be) so I know it would be even worse that it was before.
I spent nearly 3 years playing that game, putting up with the millions of bugs, bad lag and crappy CS. When they betrayed me with the NGE they showed their true colors in a way I can never forgive.
I will not only never go back to SWG (regardless of which version) I will also never play another game they devolpe or administrate.
I said "Maybe", only because of what the original release lacks. I like mounts and vehicles. I wasn't playing before March '04, so I don't know what droids and foods were like at launch; in the state I knew them, I liked them. Doc buffs and comp armor were never a big issue to me.
Pre-CU, CU, NGE...Doesn't matter. What matters to me is how I, as the customer, am treated by the company.
I would resubscribe to SWG as soon as an announcement is made stating that SWG will be developed by a different company. If that announcement doesn't come, the following will be my requirements before I return.
1. I will not play a FPS hybrid MMO game. If they go with a full FPS system, maybe. But I think it is completely beyond their capability. If they return to a combat system that doesn't require me to have my mouse cursor constantly on the target, that would be even better.
2. SOE spends at least a year finishing their product and making it worth my time and money. I am still upset that the President of SOE doesn't think their product is finished, but insists that we pay to test it for them.
If those two things happen, I might return to SWG. However, I will have reservations and the slightest hint of SOE reverting back to questionable business ethics will cause me to immediately cancel.
Satori: Bump up the average levels of mobs/environment on Dantooine and Dathomir so they are truly adventure planets (so only either groups of high-level players or MRangers can venture)
Nirvana: keep Dantoine a barren planet, and keep other planets urban-sprawl-free: Increase maintenance fees on housing and ban housing on Dantooine (remeber how awesome that planet was before there were towns on every square foot of the map?)
Even though $OE is pure evil... and I loathe them... and I'd hate every time they took the 15 bucks out a month...
I'd go back. I miss that game WAY too much and NO game has come close to filling that void. It WOULD have to have JTL though.

It sounds great, so great in fact, I pitty those who canceled - Some deluded SWG fanboi who pities me. I don't like it when you say things. - A Vanguard fan who does too. 09f911029d74e35bd84156c5635688c0
I have nowhere to go so I would indeed play it! I want my game back... But let BioWare do the developing and controling of SWG

I still remember when Shadowstone was a small outpost on Dantooine. There was Shadowstone, New Cardia, and New Iridonia (which at the time was a few houses.) and Valley of Darkness. 4 cities on the planet. Was fine by me. Granted we moved there predicting the planet would become important and our crafters could box out the market, and we were right lol.

As long as we're dreaming, can I have a pony?
Why this should be stickied is beyond me. Do you think this would be the 1st poll SOE has seen?
Give it up. Your game is gone. No rollback. No classic server. No SWG2 from Bioware. Give it up. It's over.

The original release did _NOT_ have any "hologrind". That was added later.
If Jedi were kept out of the game and it was based upon the "original" flavor I would likely give it a swing.
