World of Warcraft has been rumored to be jumping platforms to the Xbox 360 for some time, but if The New York Times is correct, the next jump it makes will instead be to the world of film.
The Times is reporting
that Blizzard will announce Tuesday that its massively successful,
massively multiplayer online role-playing game is set to be made into a
big-budget fantasy picture along the lines of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings films, with Warner Bros.' Legendary Pictures handling the production.
Director, cast, release date, and budget are all undetermined as of
yet, but the paper quotes Blizzard CEO Paul Sams as saying that the
goal is to make "one of the best films in the world," a World of
Warcraft pic that will appeal to gamers and non-gamers alike. He said
Legendary Pictures management was keenly attuned to what Blizzard
wanted out of a World of Warcraft film. Legendary's first film was Batman Begins. Other projects being brought to the big screen by Legendary Pictures include Superman Returns, The Ant Bully, Where the Wild Things Are, and Frank Miller's 300.

I wonder if The Rock will star in this one ... yes yes, he'd make a decent Ico. ^_^

And I don't want to hear anything about "I don't believe in vampires" because *I* don't believe in vampires, but I believe in my own two eyes, and what *I* saw is ******* vampires! "
I just hope it won't be a disapointment like that D&D movie! But Rock could seriously kick some ass in warcraft, hell yeah!!!
Really, what game movie hasn't?

That's the official press release of the Warcraft movie. It could be good if they do it right, but it could be really really bad too.
"Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. and Legendary Pictures today announced that they have entered into an agreement to develop a live-action film based on Blizzard Entertainment®'s award-winning Warcraft® universe."
"All right, they're on our left, they're on our right, they're in front of us, they're behind us... they can't get away this time."

Whoa, yikes. WoW coming to theatres? This really is a mass takeover.
As shown by previous history, almost all the video game movies are pretty below par, low budget productions, but from the looks of this article Blizzard may just make even more history. Though I do agree with the above poster, that the movie should be animated. It would be much better that way.

I don''t really know when Humankind will die out but i''m guessing about 6 years before WOW.

That's the first thing that I thought of when I read the title. "I bet it's going to suck like that D&D movie."
The second thing that came to mind was, "Man, that's going to be one smelly movie theatre."
I'm kidding! I played WoW. WoW is great.. don't get bent.
It's just sad there hasn't been one yet.
Hopefully this will be the first of it's kind.
A Work in Progress.

Anyway, get Peter Jackson to direct it and it should be good or the people who did the matrix or steven spielberg lol.
