Woot!

And just to preempt the fanbois of the other MMORPGs who claim that
free trials are a sign of failure, couple of things:  1)  Yes, AA's population is low right now, hopefully this will help, 2) almost EVERY
mmorpg offers or has offered a free trial, even WoW, which is the most
successful MMOG in the USA right now, and 3) I believe this shows great
confidence in the game.  It shows that if you just TRY it.... you'll
probably like it.  Or love it even!

So..... enjoy!!   (and see you on the highway!)

as a former beta tester I can tell you to prepare to be bored in a whole new way.
  • DanjakDanjak Member Posts: 197
As a current player, I can tell you that its changed a lot since beta.  I hated my time in beta and deleted it off my hard drive.  After hearing it was now a fun and stable game, I gave it a second chance.  I'm soooo glad I did.

I just quit this game a few days ago... It was fun for a while but it wore off.  It really needs ALOT more work. You can get alot of missions (I did human side) all at once and complete them for good xp.  Then... around level 38-40 they go from like 10-12 missions to missions you can't complete on your own.  There's not many people out there who will team up with you to complete them either, so don't think I just want to solo, and yes I had a guild.

Stuff like mailing system, auction house, and many other nessecary things are not ingame yet and will NOT be ingame until later this year (around winter time.)  Sorry, but I do not want to pay for an incomplete game like this.  There's not much to do with a low population like this.  At least with neocron (300~ max population.) you could go to specific zones and find someone to fight-- or just do outpost fights every so often.

This game is not worth playing, trust me.  It might be worth TRYING in about 6-8 months down the road, but please... DO NOT support an incomplete game!   You will only ruin it for the rest of us who don't like incomplete games and will not pay for them...  If we show these developers that we will stupidly pay for such things, they will not delay their release.  Think about it... would you rather release an incomplete game that people will buy, or hold off on it, keeping yourself from making profits.  MMORPG's are just another money-making scheme, they would do such a thing.

Good to hear your opinion, and you're certainly entitled to it, but you do have some incorrect statements in there.  The auction house and mail system are not coming in the winter - they are coming after the next patch.  They are currently being worked on and the devs have stated that the auction house is the number one priority right now.  The official statement is that the auction house will be out Spring/Summer.  Also, there is no forced grouping in this game.  You can group if you want, and doing so allows you to level faster, but you can go from 1-80 solo if you wish.  Lots of people do just that.  If you couldn't, then perhaps you were trying missions too far beyond you.

As for paying for an "incomplete" game.... no MMORPG is complete.  Not even WoW - which claimed the "until it's ready" approach.  Yes, AA is missing some features, but the game is fun, stable, and addictive right now.  But honestly, try it for yourself and make up your own mind.

I didnt try auto assault yet.

But thumbs up for your attitude

Please people stop supporting unfinished games. We all simpatise with developers , but it is important to show once and for all that unfinished games should not be released as it is so often case in mmo's

Hate to break the news to you, but mmorpg are always changing everyday. I still dont think there is 1 mmorpg that is finished yet. I am currently playing AA myself and refused to play Beta. It has come along since Beta.

I decided to crucify people about how this game was horrible and how you can support a game like this, I was wrong. Going by what people say, may differ from your own. Especially when you get a 14 day free trial.

I can see going out and spending 50 bucks, but for free, dont knock it, till you try it.

Just remember, not ventured, nothing gained.

I've been playing for only a week, but its a nice breath of fresh air for me. It is just different enough to be neat for a while.

Is Auto Assault a finished game?  I certainly hope not.  This game is fun and will continue to get better as they add more and more.  When an MMO is "finished" you might as well quit.

Auto Assault is a great game, and  will keep getting better.  If you give it a try, you will like it.  If you already made up your mind based on a beta version or simply on what people want you to believe, then so be it.  I won't be able to convince you anyways.

Try it, its free.  Afraid you might like it?  Be prepared, you will probably run out and buy it.

Auto Assault has surprised me.  It's been my mmo for the past few weeks now.  I was there in beta and could agree with some of those that are saying negative things about the game, but it has improved and it's a lot of fun now.  Definitely check out the trial.

I downloaded and tried it last night. I enjoyed what little I saw of it. Then I felt sick. I'm not sure if that's due to the motion in the game or due to my stomach not liking the peanut butter sandwich I ate. I'll find out tonight.

lol.. yikes.  Hopefully it was the sandwich.  I think.

Anyway, another thing I wanted to point out was the kick-ass online trading card game that comes with the boxed version (you get 1 starter pack with the regular and 3 packs with the special edition).  This game is mad addicting... I was playing it for hours last night.  If you're into trading card games, you can play this without playing the MMO (I believe).  Just go to the Auto Assault trading card game website.  No, I don't have the link and I don't feel like looking, but a quick Google search will turn it up.

Bad wording on that.  When I said "unfinished" by that, I meant "not ready for retail."  Obviously all MMO's are ever-evolving.  I just do not think under the current condition of Auto Assault that it should have been put out on retail.

Don't think it's unfinished?  Think you can wait for the features?  Take a look at what they are putting in and when.  There was a link on mmorpg.com recently.  Waaaay too long for -needed- features in this game!

And please do not think I played this game for 3 days, got to level 5, and said "wtf?! this game sucks!"  I leveled to 44 on a Human Commando.  It was smooth sailing until you get level 37-39, then its grind grind grind off 4xp mobs.  I tried many other classes of the 3 races ingame.  Now, what I really like about this game is each stealth, etc class is completely different than the others.  They share a few basic things like... well... stealth classes can all stealth, but that's pretty much it. :3

One more thing: I played for around 23 days straight. My opinions are quite valid, but may be a little bias.

Are you sure it wasnt a FRIED PEANUT BUTTER and BANANA Sandwich?

    That is my favorite..

I am finding the game to be awesome. I can't get enough of it!
I honestly expected it to be a mild/short diversion, but I am enjoying the game greatly and will be sticking around.

I've been playing mmorpg's since M59 and UO released and playing MUD's for years prior to that and this is the first game in a loooooong time to feel "fresh" to me.

    It's just plain fun!

Is it me or does it seem like:

14 day free trial of a "good and "well received" game a few weeks after launch = Game will get more popular and more subscriptions

14 day free trial of a "bad" and "not-well received" game a few weeks after launch = Company is desperate and the game is going to end up shutting down soon.

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

This game isn't going to be shutting down any time soon.  It's too good for that.  In my opinion, NCSoft likes having a good variety of different games to offer, and this one fits right in with those.  I love this game and was very happy to see them offer a free trial.  The more people that try it, the more that will get hooked.

    /agreed

however, there are more people out there that are enjoying it, rather the others slamming it.

This game is GREAT from all the Floppy Ear Elves and Wizzy Magic AOE Bolts from hell. I am glad a game like this was released, the damn mmo market is nothing but this now. I can put up with DAoC since its what got me started and still enjoy it.

But playing 5 to 10 games all about Wizards and Warriors is getting old right now for me and just need to take a break from it.

I tried it again last night, no peanut butter sandwich! Didn't get sick this time, so I  must remember never to guy that type of peanut butter again.

As to the game. I had a blast playing it last night. I choose the mutant type of character (green guys). I got sent on a mission to destroy a human outpost. While I didn't complete it (they kept beaming in more humans) I did have a damn fun time running the little buggers over. I loved the scream they made, blood too! It was also fun hitting them and watching them run off with blood flying off their body. (Yes it's sadistic but it's been a rough week).

My only annoyance with it was that there didn't really seem to be general chat window that I could keep open. I found a imput box and there was a window where system and mission messages appeared but not chat for general players. It really made it difficult to talk to other players or just watch chat to see what was going on.

I still have another 12 or so days to try the game so I can't say I'm going to buy it yet. But provided I keep having fun like I did last night I will fork up the cash.

It sounds like you're still in the tutorial.  The tutorial is solo, then you enter the world with everyone else.  Once you do, you'll see the chat window, I'm sure.  It fades away after about five to ten seconds of inactivity so as to not clutter your screen, but with clan chat, general chat, and convoy chat, my chat screen is always scrolling.  Also, you can hover your mouse over it to get it to show up again.  It's located right above the window where system messages and combat spam appears.

This game is a blast, FAR more fun that it appears at first glance.

You OWE it to yourself to try it out for free!

It only looked mildly interesting to me, i decided to Beta it since it was free, but nearly passed as car games and shoot-em-ups are not for me... but when I played it I was hooked!

I would have to say it's one of the most refreshing MMOs i have played (and I have played most all of em ;-))

I liked it so much even in beta I preordered the limited edition... and that is saying something!

The real beauty is you can try it for free, so you have nothing to lose!

If ya hate it you can just remove it!  If you love it, well hay... and even if you think it's just ok, still no loss but download time.  Pretty sweet if ya ask me... What? You arent asking me? Oh Sorry!

I'm pretty sure I made it out of the tutorial as I saw other people. Is there a way to make it not fade away?

Oh, okay - if you saw other players, then yes, you're out of the tutorial.

I don't know if there is an option to stop it from fading away... you can check the UI options by hitting escape.  The chat window is like CoH or DAoC - it's a split window with combat spam and system messages on the bottom and chat messages on top.
