at the Evolution movie. I just did a search of the EvE fourms and found that they are still working on it, and it looks like it's a huge project. I would like to see more then just the one trailer though.
there's actually a second trailer, altho just as short it's already alot different in quality.
You'll notice the models are remade and the backgrounds made to fit in that one, if you find it
its an awesome set of trailers indeed.
There is something to be said about the trailers though... people (rookies) enter the game on a trail account and take a look, they find the tutorial takes to long (skip) or get ganked on they're first mining trip down in 0.3. And they then look at those trailers again and say theres no justice in eve except for the gatecampers and the O I made a "first" post on the forums... really sad
Trailers do draw people to eve, for sure, after the ENF XL movie the games player rate jumped up. I'm just a little frustrated about people only taking a peek at the game after seeing a trailer and then going here and posting that its crap taking down its rating (if you havn't noticed the rating droped recently which I find a little unfair because all reviews I see are from whining rookies that havn't taken the time to actually PLAY the game.
The trailers are good, no question about it. But some people can't look past they're own game (WoW and Guildwars) to see the great game behind them.
You're forgetting about the target audience for games such as WoW or Guildwars; RF Online, AutoAssault, etc. Those types of games have their own market. Sure, 12-18 is a good target for pentration into the game market although you have to keep in mind the mentality and attention span that a particular audience is capable of.
Star War Galaxies had a similar fate early on. The game was awesome and very dynamic. It attempted to create a sandbox stylized environment where players were able to dictate their own actions through preference rather then "pathing". Lucas Arts was unhappy with the success of their frachise tittle MMO in comparison to "World of Warcraft" thus we had the events that led to the "Combat Upgrade" then "New Game Enhancements". They had gone from the right to the far left and alienated the foundation which their game was based upon, the community.
To me, EVE Online captures that expansive dynamic environment which SWG possessed at one time. Actually, I think EVE is better then SWG was in many aspects of game design; EVE has gone through hell to get where it is today.
I have no concern that EVE Online will turn into what's become of SWG since CCP appears to be more community orriented whereas Lucas Arts and Sony Online Entertainment care nother more then profit margins and market share.
One thing to be expected, more fluid pathing for a "new player experiance" so they can become more accustomed to EVE Online and what play styles are avialble and how to fullfill those goals.
