Could it possibly be that all the "drama" thats been surrounding this game for the past few months is going to end up being wrong?

if by the drama you mean what Farlan has shown to be unprofessional and blatant disrespect, I hardly think any of it was blown outta proportion . The fact is, looking at the lonnng history of such antics and the several several several times Farlan has been caught in the act, with proof, what makes you think its suddenly gonna be a case of "oh poo, we were all worked up over nothing?"
Try reading the forums. There are many many many many threads here in which the truth has been flung back at Farlan. On a side note, I would truly hate to think that I would allow any company to spit in my face and turn around and excuse them.

Lack of Beta
Poor community management (ie:hey guys its release day, just to let you know we're delaying)
Shitty combat system
There's probably more but I can't think of it right now
If there's one thing that's really telling at this point, it's the lack of a playable demo at E3.
So, with 15 days left until the actual live release, nobody has actually SEEN this game.
In the film industry, when a studio releases a movie that they know for a fact sucks, they don't even bother having advanced screenings for critics or test audiences. They just dump it into theaters.

Yes indeed! Popcorn barrels emptied of the buttery popcorn and kernals on the floor, the janitor working furiously to scrape the gum left under the seats, the sodas leaving unsightly and frustrating water rings everywhere, and ppl rising from the long but most enjoyable entertainment. A pat on the back, a reminisce of the favorite parts, a laugh cramp in the gut, a crushed Goober in the aisle, and someone turning in the shoe they found as we make our way out the door. Well sated and a comradrie of game players who want the best and still have hope that maybe...some day....a game will come out that is worth our money...a last look, a last sad smile and the bittersweet music begins as all the hatebois file out slowly and onward towards yet another greatest game ever......

Heh, actually, the bet would be "are there enough D&L fanbois left to keep the game going til 2007?" Because they're not doing anything to attract anybody else. No open beta, no demos, nothing to counter the horrible word of mouth that this game is already getting.
Tough call....
The only way DnL makes it through 2007 is if the game is released in 2007, which is definitely a possibility.

Look - I'm not here to slander this game. It's been long enough in the making. I find it funny watching the people who are here 4 years later slagging it off and likewise those who are here fanboing handing out the lube. Actually, all the "original" haters and fanbois are all gone, but coming back here and seeing exactly the same arguments in 2006 is funny-haha - espcially when there are othergames coming out that look to be in JUST the same state as DnL... Poor PotBs, poor LoTR, poor [insert X title that will be the subject of the next intense community battle]. Keep up the good work, I like watching a good battle. Hat's of to Indira who had it sussed from early days...DnL isn't dark and light it's Faith versus Fear... or erm. soemthing like tha. I'm off to play something, but ya'll have fun trawling the boards and keeping it real. lol.. ah you guys slay me you really do.
Agreed. If you've been following the game closely for a few years, you may have gotten a sense of what Cholayna described. Farlan/NPCube have shown total lack of professionalism and disrepect to the players following Dark and Light through the years, either by giving false information, or as is most often the case, not giving any information at all, and probably most importantly, not listening to the playerbase.
Dark and Light is plagued by more than just poor devlopment and a lack of professionalism and good judgement, it is being brought down by sheer arrogance on the part of Farlen for assuming we would turn around and excuse them. I certainly won't, which is why I refunded my Pioneer account and will not have anything at all to do with DnL.
