MMORPG.com article about SWG

I just read the article for SWG at E3 (link).  And I must say...  I must concede that this qualifies as "adding content" which is good and all, and I am happy for the current players that they are getting this.  To me it's not enough to win me back, but to each it's own...

But the real reason I started this thread is, how are the lag issues these days in SWG?  As far as I know SWG has always had stability issues, but has it gotten better?  An event like this would bring a lot of players to the same spot, in the days of old this would often cause the servers to crash.  Is SWG ready for this now?

Fresh off a 14 day vet trial, and I'll honestly tell you, even in EMPTY cities like Theed and Coronet, there is more lag there now then there ever was Pre-CU. Don't even try to open your inventory outdoors. It's just impossible.

I prefer to call this smokescreen, not adding content.

We've had some recent large scale events on Chilly.  1000's of NPCs and over 100 players all in one spot and the server didn't die.  I had to turn all my graphics settings right down though to have a decent frame rate. I'm beginning to think some of these large events were testing for this event they're doing :p

However, Theed seems to be pretty bad for lag.  The weekend before we had some large scale battles going on there and it resulted in Theed crashing and the server going into a "Loading" status.  Didn't affect anyone off Naboo though.

I've heard this complaint before, that's why I decided to ask.  Even without players there seems to be lag sometimes.

Cities are more lagtastic than ever.  A slight bit more lag outside of cities with little burps of lag randomly popping up if you travel faster than a walk.

So if I understand correctly, the result of the battle is fixed no matter what happens in the battle.  I understand the the desire to have the PvP playground the wasted city will provide but does anyone else find the purpose of the battle less than inspiring?  As far as the actual battle goes, there's no need to put in any effort if you already know the result.

I remember the video you took, and it was in my mind when I posted.  I remember the video was pretty laggy and it sparked a discussion on wether it was client lag or server lag.  But an event like this would be severe!  I quite frankly don't think SWG is in a state where it could handle an event like this, but I didn't want to sound too biased so I decided to ask instead.
