Another tip would be to send /tells to people who you want to group with.  Simply inviting people to your group can have mixed results.  Don't assume that the player has a microphone installed and wants to voice-chat with you rather than answer a /tell.

This also ties in to learning how the Grouping options work.  Learn how to set up your LFG (looking for group) flag, or LFM (looking for more) flag.  Not everyone who wants a group wants to get spammed with sudden invites, so they don't activate their LFG flag.  If you put up a LFM you may find your group fill up much faster than you expected.

this is barely factual.  if you log on during peak time you could get into a group with in 10 minutes.  DDO have a very easy to use player search interface that will allow anyone whos on LFG to find a group or a group leader to find someone LFG.  no class is more important then another, each have its own very special job.  so there is no way you will end up picking a useless class nobody wants.

yeah you could be waiting 30 minutes or more if you decide to log on during off peak times.  thats expected since people during the middle of the night are often asleep.

Have played: CoH, DDO EQ2, FFXI, L2, HZ, SoR, and WW2 online

OK, first off I no longer play DDO...  So I have a question for you.  You state that you can get into a group within 10 minutes...  Is that the time you actually start looking for a group to when you enter the dungeon?  Or is that the time from when you start looking for a group to when you get invited into a group, but not actually start questing?  What I am getting at is this...  You can get into a group fairly quickly, but then you need to wait till the group is full, or till everyone is rested and has purched everything they need.  And also,  is this less than 10 minutes for a group getting the group you want to do the quest you want to do?  Or is this 10 minutes for just getting a basic group together to do any quest, not necessarily the one you want?

it all depends.  if you are starting a group from fresh then it could take 5-10 minutes, thats if you were playing during peak time.  sometimes another player will send you an invite and you are the last person to fill up that sixth spot.  you should know from playing other mmos, that it all varies through many other factors.  like time of day or just simply you cant get a healer at the moment.

yeah if you were playing during the early in the morning like 1 am on a wednesday, it could take you 30-40 minutes or more just to get a group going.  obiviously people are in bed and the people availiable isnt there.  all mmos are like this too.

you think ddo isnt perfect, then you should know when i was playing eq2, i was hardly ever invited into groups because of my class.  i had to beg people to get me on to their group so i could play the content id paid for.  yeah my class was a shadowknight.  my class was the least wanted class in the whole game, because it was the worst tank in the whole game, and it couldnt compete in the amount of damage a bruiser would do.  so many other groups looking for a perfect group wouldnt think about getting a shadowknight. i would have my LFG on for hours and hours.  even when i was starting a group most of the time the healers are available, either they are in groups or they arent online.  healers were one of the most demanding classes in any group because everyone needed one or two.

Funny, same thing happened in GW and WoW.

I understand what you are saying... And that is my point.  The backers of DDO keep saying that it is easy to get a group.  You can get one is 5-10 minutes...  etc. etc. etc.  Which is a very broad statement which more time than not is not really true.  DDO players claim to be more mature than other MMOs out there.  They're not, ther are no better or worse than any other community of players.  They still snub certain classes or certain races, or players who do not or do not want to use VoIP.  etc...

As with the LFG...  Solo play would ease  a little of that.  So would crafting, or a world to explore.  At lease in EQ2 you had other things to do while you were looking for a group.  That is the point I am trying to make with Solo play, crafting, a world to explore...  If you are going to force grouping, then you need to make the game either a perfect MMO that everyone wants to play and all hours, or give the players something else to do.
