Grrr... new site format blues

Okay, so I enjoy the site, but ever since I came here there has been a problem:

The search function has been screwy.

In the past, the search function worked on a limited basis, but recently it is useless.  Specifically I am referring to the ability to search for posts in the forums.

So at this point I am asking for the ability to expand the search with a more "advanced" format.  For example, clicking on the advanced search allows you to input a word or string and choose the forum you want it to search in, allow a member search, etc.
