You let me know what you want in a game and what your looking for, then I'll let you know if it's a good game or a bad game

I played WoW beginning in release in November 2004 and for about 2-3 months and then dropped it.  The game is incredibly fun and addicting to begin with due to the many quests, the seamless world and the fast pace of levelling.  In my own personal experience, it started to get old after a few months and the late game content was frustrating and annoying and so I quit.  The game is also marred by a very immature community, but if you find good people to guild with you can insulate yourself from that to some degree.

the next 10 posts will probably made by either WoW haters or EVE fanboys (we have plenty of both on those forums)

but anyway, WoW is a very fun game to play, even if you chose not to stay at the endgame. I have played it for a year and loved every minute of it (except the last month, I geuss I just played too much). if your goal is to get to max out your char asap then you won't enjoy the game. if your goal is to have fun toward the endgame, then you will have a blast

No matter what people say, never judge a game without trying it, I say good.

I have a post that may appear like im bashing wow but it is a good game, the questing is fun and addictive there is alot of thoughtful things in the game like mounts, gryphons and the ability to alter the UI is nice, as said before the community is a bit on the immature side. End - game is about raiding to get to the top gear and to see the entire game you will have to get in a huge guild and take part in 40 man raids if your cool with that then the only true con to the game is they have alot of problems keeping it running properly.

It definately is a good game, fast pased, easy, and addictive, but don't expect to enjoy for more than a year, someone buying it now will probably be lucky as the expansion will hit him about at the time he is starting to get tired of it so expect to play it for enough time to get your money's worth, especially if it is your first game, it is really good for a first time introduction to mmorpgs.

Now if you enjoy PvP more than PvE and especially instanced raiding then i would say that this is not what you are trully looking for, but if you enjoy PvE and beeing in a guild doing raids then go for it.

I voted Good because it is not a bad game, and in many aspects it is a good game, it definately isn't the best though.

is it a good game yes.  is it unique no/yes.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

I don't think anyone can deny(even those dissapointed by wow) that when it comes down to it wow is a good game. Its stable looks beutiful, easy to get in to and its world is immersive and interesting. To begin with its alot of fun, doesn't cause frustration with gameplay issues and in general its overall execution is probably second to none.

The problem with wow is it doesn't offer much if anything beyond hack and slash grinding.

PS I don't think you need to stick around to the end game to get bored of wow.

you don't need a cystal ball to predict what will happen with WoW.

    1) Burning Crusade gets released
    2) Almost everyone plays the new races
    3) Almost everyone complains that the oppositions race is overpowered
    4) Both races get nerfed weeks after BC is released
    5) Almost everyone complains that their races were nerfed when they forked out £18 for an expansion, that the old races need a buff, that they HAVE to buy the expansion to stay 'ahead' or that there is still no PvP.

So predictable it's not even funny.

    No annoying animated GIF here!

    I really liked WoW.

I love the nearly Zone free world (as opposed to everquest 2 the zone riddled world).

I love the way the auction house works.

I loved the weapons and armor and how they were managed (bind on equip, pick up etc)

I loved that I could solo 99.9 percent of my characters life to 60.

What I didn't like was the realization that I would have to group in order to get the real good stuff or PvP religiously to get decent stuff.

    I'm not a good grouper.

I'm not sure why WoW gets so much negative feedback from everyone.   After all it is pretty damn popular.

I think WoW is a good game although I don't like it myself (I don't like that type of game would be more accurate). I think you should try out Guild Wars or have a look over the review for it here, as it sounds like it could be your thing. GW has better graphics (in my opinion) a better storyline than pretty much anyother MMO I've played (I like EVE more though because I always prefer sci-fi over fantasy), also it's cheaper in the long run if you like it.

So have a butchers at GW first is my advice.

It's a very good game. I stopped playing it in November, but it did hold my attention for at least seven months.

At this point I couldnt suggest a better game out there. Plenty of players to interect with and very nice quests and level advancement. And I found the pvp to be fast paced and fun as well if you choose the pvp servers.

I would also like to note, I found the graphics to be top notch. Some people dont like the cartoonish look, but I found it to be nice and it was very pleasant on the eyes for long play periods. I have a few gripes about WoW, but all in all I think it is the best MMORPG out atm, and with 5 million copies sold, it would seem im not the only one who thought so.

I also highly recommend watching the video review on Gamespot.

    Hope this helps )Warcraft review

WOW isn't SWG, WOW is what it is and has been to begin with and won't destroy the whole game to try and appease a different market than there player base.

I don't think you need a crystal ball either and I think with everyday that passess wow will need to fight harder to keep its players once newer games are released. I predict new races won't be nearly enough and that WOWs time is passing because the game becomes boring not the end game or not the races just the actuall game

Personally I don't like wow like Agricola its not my type of game but as I said I think its a good game, deffinetely don't think it will stand the test of time and think casual gamers will be as sick to death of it as the hardcore. Funny thing is SWG from what I hear was ahead of its time, it offered depth before the casual gamers and newcomers(such as myself) to the genre wanted more. Only the people who were already experienced with MMORPGs for a while seemed to be demanding depth. Time will tell if thats the trend even more gamers will follow after xxx amount of hours playing WOW and SWG as it now stands

PS: Time is already telling that tale.
Also its telling the tale of SWG moving backwards agaisnt the will of its community as an indication of SOE's competence(after all the money and all the changes it didn't gain market share)

Wow is great fun until you hit 60. The classes are fun to play. The PvE is fun. The PvP is fun when you can find a fair fight. I don't play WoW any more but I'd recommend it. Just don't expect to love it at 60 unless you like EQ style raiding (which is nothing like the rest of the game).

WoW is a good 6 month PvE game, but is too easy overall because of fast leveling/skill raising and lack of a significant battle loss penalty to keep the game real and condition players to respect the environment.

It is certainly well made for what it offers and is fun for that period of time, but the PvP is flawed, and raiding endgame design is boring. The crafting is just as easy to master as the adventuring, unfortunately, so no crafter can shine as having accomplished anything special.

I agree with alot of what u said but its fast leveling/skill to begin with is what many claim they like and a part of the game I liked.

Frankly its grinding thats boring and the only incentives given to players is high levels and uber gear which can only be done by grinding. Thats a major flaw thats common amogst alot of MMORPGs. Now there starting to turn into power incentives(political postitions) and ability to leave ones mark upon the game.

I agree the crafting is to easy and since there no player driven economy the crafters suffer even more so. Theres no point of having money other than to get good gear so no point crafting for anyother purpose than level/characther development(gear) causing more reason to favor grinding in the form of combat and taking away from the little variety it had.

I agree PVP is flawed and I think thats because incentives for groups are raiding not controlling an area of influence not conquest. Its just the thrill of fighting another opponent(other than an NPC) for no purpose other than loot and XP which can be done solo and again takes away from the variety by focussing on leveling/grinding

Raiding endgame wouldn't know about, I'd already had enough before than but as said raiding is for the same purpose loot and xp.

The adventours nice(not as nice as SOE games but nice) only problem with them is there the same thing(loot and XP hunts) attached to an otherwise interesting story but again with so many idividual and static quest it makes it hard for players to really change/impact/affect/interact with the enviroment rather they serve it for payment in the form of XP and loot

The problem again I believe is the game is only about one thing at the end of the day and that XP and gear.

How about giving a end game or a game were that XP and gear allows you the player to affect/control/influence/interact with the game world and better yet allows more than just combat gear and combat XP to empower the player to do so and compete agaisnt others doing the same

I believe thats the problem in general and the reason wow will not stand the test of time(because its to entrenched and to focussed on XP and loot)

I could've written just as much about wows positives and wows negatives are no different to most other major MMORPGS hopefully the future of them will have learnt from recent innovations regarding the players incentives and interaction with the world

Played it for about 3 months (500 hours).

It's a very high quality game and worth the money. Fantasy isn't my theme of choice, but's it all done well. Technically, in terms of programming achievement, this game runs flawlessly and has more functions and features than any other MMO on the market. It's no surprise that it's the no.1 best selling MMO, still in the top ten best selling PC games a year or more since release.

The problem I saw with the crafting system was that everything you could ever want was dropped.   I dual yielded Dawn's edges (crafted items) but they were nothing compared to items dropped in instances and off mobs.   I used them because I didn't raid.   If I knew I could lvl up any crafting skills and eventually make items as good as dropped items I would have, but as it stood it didn't seem to make much sense.

I would love to see a game like Ultima Online be born again w/ modern graphics.

I am sooooooooo BORED.    I've like doubled my posts on mmorpg.com in the last week.

    help me.

I personally liked WoW a lot, good story elements, most of the quests are decent and interesting.  Blizzard is a great company and can produce quality products.  But i took a hunter and maxed out and then tried to do some battleground stuff and some of the raid junk.  But never could find a decent guild i liked... :/

I just think the whole idea of raids is a waste of bandwith and lack to much creativity to be interesting, just wished they would put more variety and infasis in the battleground areas and maybe allow more freeform BGs that allowed groups of freelance or soloists to go at it.  King of the hill kinda matchups, etc...
