Yet another...which game post

Hi all;

Well I have finally actually decided on a game...EQ2. However, I play with a friend once a week, and have found that playing that game, without that particular friend gets kind of dry. So i would like to try something else that is perhaps a little bit lighter, but fun, to fill in the gaps. Please note, monthly fee is a non issue.

Here are the things that I'm looking for: ( I would say that they are in order of preference...ie #1 is top on my wishlist)

1) Bright, crisp, clear graphics. I really have gotten sick of games that are dark and gloomy.

2) The ability to solo

3) Some depth in character development.

4) Preferred Fantasy motif

5) Player driven economy

I have tried Wow, but just cannot seem to get into it. If this gives another hint, I found the gameplay too simple. thanks for any and all help.

    I haven't played it since release and even returned it myself, but I'd recommend Guild Wars. The game takes some skill, has bright and crisp graphics, a good story line, and a decent end-game. You can solo in this game if you wish, but you said you were playing with a friend when you play this game, so why would you. When I say solo, I mean you can hire henchman to group with you.

    What it doesn't have is a player driven economy and a good community. I'd say the next option is Dungeons and Dragons online, but while some instances take place outside, most are in the darker colored sewers and dungeons. DDO is a great game to play to fill in gaps and to play with a friend. The game also has awsome character depth.

    What DDO doesn't have is solo content or a player driven economy. Come to think of it; there are many games out there that fit the description you gave, if you don't mind a monthly fee, which you said you don't. Out of the games I played, which are DAoC, SWG, GW, COH, WOW, EVE, EQ2, and DDO----I would choose DAoC, GW and DDO.

    Oddly enough, I find myself suggesting ROSE Online.

    You have to withstand some hardcore grind, but the graphics are very bright and cheerful.  It's not hard to solo as far as I've seen, although I don't know just how far that goes.  There's not much in the way of character development, but that's true for nearly all MMOs I've seen aside from a few Korean ones that you really need to play in Korean to understand rather than rely on the English translations.  Fantasy motif, yes.  Player driven economy, very much so last I heard.

    If not for the exceptionally tedious grind and lack of buddies who played it, I might have stayed with ROSE.
