For anyone who doesn't know, there is a great non massive Multiplayer game called Tribes, I'd like to see a community push for Sierra/VU or even another company to gain the rights, and produce a Tribes MMO taking it along the lines of other great MMOs and open it to a more leisurely game, with more than just killing, but also adding crafting and a regular life appeal to the Starsiege galaxy. you can find these games at
www.vugames.com or
www.tribesvengeance.com I would like opinions and ideas for a game of this line because I am currently in school for game design, and may myself attempt to push for the rights to build a game along these lines. For anyone who is a tribes fan please Vote to show wishes to see a game of this sort.

I think it would have the potential of being a decent mmo if made right.
I was a huge fan of Tribes 2, played it for a long time and loved it. I was very sad when the servers started to dissapear and become empty, and when it was finally shut down
Tribes Vengeance was a disgrace to the series. It was just god awful. Many of the things that made Tribes 2 so much fun were taken out and things were changed that shouldn't have been changed.

I thought some of the writers of Tribes went on to work on Planetside?
I didn't think much of Tribes Vengeance.
I've been a Tribes player since 2 weeks after the release of Starsiege: Tribes. On the one hand, I would LOVE to see a larger scale game of Tribes. On the other hand, I've seen Starsiege: Tribes and Tribes 2 servers that were hosting 150 players at once. Just how many more players do we really need on the field?
I can see an expanded MMO version of the game being absolutely awful. Slowing things down or going the route of Planetside would alter the elements that make Tribes the awesome goodness that it is.

I very much want to see the franchise continue; an MMO would be interesting. I would like to see it follow along the lines of Planetside, with of course the unique Tribes elements and perhaps more of an emphasis on guilds.
Yeah, because we know how perfectly MMORPGs run, right? I mean, WOW never has any random, rampant server outages, severe lag, long queues, etc. Especially when they put in big new content like AQ. No, sir, that game runs butter-smooth. And other MMOs, they don't have problems either, oh, no. Every MMORPG runs like a fine-tuned machine.
Mmm, sweet, tasty sarcasm...
I Beta Tested Starsiege: TRIBES back in the day (my first Beta Test ever). I recall staying up nights to watch the Dev's molest Leia Cutout (I still have that incriminating evidence). Refreshing the Forums at www.tribesplayers.com (which no longer exists). And being the 2nd "Tribe" in the game's universe.
I say let it go. Like most good games of old, they're best left in memory, not remade (*cough*Vengance*cough*) to some other developer's style.
I work for a company who's (re)making an MMOFPS that's very similar to Tribes. But, like some of the other people in this thread, I let nostalgia stand in the way in the comparison.
