I agree most in-game naming policies are annoying. They take character away by restricting names. This is one reason why Mu Online is so top tier.
You can call your self "Cunt Eater" and they won't care. You can even have names like "kasnbfkjbw" and "Naruto 569927" and still nothing. Personally I like my freedom of choice; and in this land of the free you should be free to name yourself after a dictator who puts laws in like naming policies.

I'd name a blaster Stalin's Organ if I were you and when NCSoft bitches, point out that it was the name of an actual rocket launcher.
Its pretty ironic they ban you over that, considering there is NO naming policy for Lineage 2 at all. funny they suspend you for something like that, yet in another game of them you will find Leg0laz2000 and cheapbish as nicknames..

I agree with you to some degree Damian, but Stalin isn't exactly a common name I don't think and it is pretty obvious (much more then Lincoln) what his name refers to.
If I were NCSoft, I would also make a character rename his toon if he named it something like "Bin Ladens Aircraft". Just because the toon wasn't named "Osama Bin Laden", it is pretty obvious that the name alone can be offensive to other players and that really is the only important thing. Can other players take strong offense to the name? If yes, then a new name is needed.

they infect an innocent city with a deadly virus. they return sex slaves to demonic/lichlike villain guys. they kidnap young heroes to be brainwashed and/or experimented upon. they do quite a number of things, IF you read the storylines. the stuff in paper missions are just them fighting other villain groups - bleh, whatever. but if you read the actual storylines, they do some pretty incredibly horrible stuff.

I've seen all sorts of names violate the rules in CoH/CoV and don't get caught. The problem with the policy they have in place is that it, obviously, is never evenly enforced. On one server you have somebody with a character called "Thomas Jefferson" who never gets his name changed, on another server you have somebody called "Thomas Jefferson" that immediately gets "GenericHero1212" slapped on him. Also, they are way more extreme on names that they think even remotely sound like licensed comic book characters (even tho th GM might be totally WRONG in their assessment of the name) and are a little lax on just popular names (like "Brittney Spears").
The banning was extreme. They usually on ban people if you start griefing or bitching at people in chat, AFTER you get your named changed. Sounds like the OP got hit with an overzealous PM, a bunch of people narc'ed on him for griefing, or he didn't tell the whole story.

I wouldn't want to call you a liar, your statements seem pretty straightforward and I don't see much point in it. But something isn't adding up.
That's completely inconsistent with their policy. They have a standard of changing offensive or trademarking-infringing names to GenericHero1234. At worst they delete the character and give a warning. For deliberate griefing I've never seen a first offense get worse than 2 weeks suspension. They don't even check the character databases on any regular basis - there'd have to have been petitions against you to even get their attention.
Any chance this Stalin's Hammer was pulling high-level mobs to safe areas, shrieking profanity across broadcast, and offering free child porn in exchange for stolen credit card numbers?
