Will AO subscribers get first crack?

Don't know if this has been addressed before and if it has, please forgive me. I am mainly curious as to whether AO subscribers (the paid subscribers) will be given first consideration for beta and such, since we are the ones who have supported Funcom the most to get to this point.

That is a very good question.  You're the first I've seen mention an AO connection, here or on the AoC forums(not saying it has't been mentioned, just that I haven't seen it).  The popular oppinion, is that those who have been part of the AoC fan community the longest will have first crack.

As far as I know though, that talk is all just speculation, and pipe dreams.

Yeah, I just thought I'd check if anything had been said. I just figured we should have a little bit of an edge as far as getting into the game the soonest. I don't think it would be right for them to give us uber items or anything like that. I just want us to have a chance to test it out before the rest of the world.

We are indeed close to the gamecode moving from alpha into a beta
state. That means that our internal Quality Assurance team start beta
testing internally. Not long after this point we start having a handful
of hand picked external testers join the beta testing. This is usually
people who have tested our games before and we know and trust.

I guess this mean the testers they used in beta of  AO expansions and such ? ppl they know and trust heh :)

    Really hope not

Beta testing aint all about checking out the game before the rest of the world,it's more like hard work finding bug's and report them :P

And subscribing on AO doesn't make you a good beta tester

I'm well aware of what beta testing consist of. I have done my fair share. And you are correct, subscribing to AO does not a beta tester make. But I would like to see something aimed at rewarding us for being faithful to Funcom over the years and helping them to become the great company that they are. Maybe a free 30 or 60 day sub or something? I'm not asking for uber weapons or anything,as I said that would be unfair to the gameplay of the rest of the AoC community. Just something to let us know they appreciate us.

If you have been an regular on AO test-live,you probably have a bigger chance to join.Think alot of them are invited to the closed beta too

And if you're active on AoC off. forums and  subscribe on AoC news letter might help

They do appreciate you which is why they continue to run AO and accept your monthly fees.  Why do you expect special treatment?

The only "preferences" that the developers have revealed

    A. People that they have worked with before in related situations

    B. People actively involved on the AoC forums and the community there

There will almost certainly be more things that they consider, but thats all they have told us. And all things considered, I doubt they dont screen the ones they do consider for those who arent willing to do their job as a beta tester

Well remember, there's also open beta (usually beta 3 or 4, depending on the start of the cycle). Generally speaking it's not difficult to get into betas at those points, and that's often the best time to do it since you'll get a great taste of what the game is going to be like exactly before launch.

Assuming FunCom is on schedule, and they're historically not horrible with release dates, it won't be long anyway. Hang in there.
