Should I restart?

I have a big summer coming up, I dont know if I should start EQ2 again.

Problem is, when I played last I loved the start island, but couldn't be bothered with the massive town when I got off the island and just quit (although it was a bad time, it was near exam periods), but not sure if I should restart?

Is there much fun for the lone ranger? as none of my friends have it.

I've been playing (a Ranger) since the game began, and I love EQ2.  I don't solo, however, so I can't tell you if a solo Ranger is any fun.

What I can tell you is that the game has improved since launch, and there is even a new starting experience if you play again with a new character.  I am even thinking of creating a new character to see this new content, but I am too attached to my original :)

The new starting experience is actually a lot more fun than the original. Also, the removal of the class quests and the "starting professions" has really helped the game.

My 10-day "come back and see what we've changed" trial really impressed me. Once I have some spare cash I'm restarting my subscription.

I started a new character on another server just for fun to see the changes of the trial. The island is the same of course but all the quests and even mobs are different. I guess with the removal of the sub classes they had to change the rest of the island. The only change I don't like is how they got rid of the boat in the begining. Other than that, the rest of the island is perfect, you can get up to lvl 8 easy by doing all the quests there before you go to the main city.
