Ok, I was horribly pissed beyond ever returning to SWG when the developers sunk the game into the ground but good (Me, there are 2 things I love to do in games.... Make/Sell items and Control Pets/AI... And SWG completely left both parts in utter chaos.) The AI scripting for Droids and other Pets was god awful (You tell a pet to attack, it runs off in some random direction.) So, I'm looking to get into an MMO game and wanted a few specifics things out of it...
Any help with selecting a new game would be really REALLY appreciated

People love to bash it, but WoW does almost everything right. It has most all this implemented very well.
I agree with what was said above WOW has most of what you are looking for.
Another game to consider is UO if you do not mind the old graphics it has everything you are looking for.
AO has an economy as well, and a few of the things you mentioned.
But I think that is it as far as the current games on the market
Uh ... WoW does not really have a player driven economy. It has a drop driven economy. A player driven economy is one where most of the useful things are player crafted. That was the case in the original SWG ... it definitley is not the case in WoW.
I agree EQ2 is prolly the closest thing your looking for. WoW's community is one of the worst i have ever experienced in 7 years of MMO's. But thats just my opinion. A game called Vangaurd is boasting about everything your asking for, but as of right now its got a pretty big mess on its hands, so i wouldnt get my hopes up for that game.
Just a question off the top of my head...
Why are you asking this question on the DDO forum?
But I agree with Ian... why are you posting this in the DDO forum?
Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.

Still in: A couple Betas
1&2. Eve online has the best market and economy out there. Player driven too.
3. Eve online has drones which you launch from your ship and control. This includes mining, combat, scout, electronic warfare drones.
4. Eve online allows creation of stations and control of regions by player alliances.
5. Eve online has only 1 server with around 26k people logged on at the same time. Compare that to other MMORPG and you will find no other game comes even close. There is a large roleplay community, the roleplay alliances member count is around 2000. The great thing about Eve is that it kinda forces you to roleplay as its not just a multiplayer game like so many MMORPG but a virtual living breathing universe.
Asking this in the DDO forum is a bit awkward, because least for the good AI (mostly mobs) it has few things you'd like. I would reccomend EVE, but if you have a wee bit of patience you could wait for Age of Conan, it is from the creators of AO, promises mostly everything you wanted + more. Will have player cities with their economies, trading, creating armies, massive battles...etc. One thing wrong with it is, it's not in a sci-fi setting
