The help channel are full of volunteers (Rookie Help is,anyway) I fully intend to hook up my bank account to EVE as soon as my holiday is over; it seems to have everything I want. Outdoor PvP, a risk-filled mining system, guild wars, reputation, no levels..........drool! Let's keep the immature people away from EVE....they don't last long anyway. Considering I didn't like Elite,I'm shocked to like EVE.
I have to agree with you on your remark about the community. Ive only been playing EVE for about a week, and I was simply blown away with how remarkable the community is. I think because the game has a certain level of complication, and has an actual learning curve, it keeps the 1337 speak kiddies away who can powergrind to uberness in other games away for the most part. The community seems more mature than other games IMHO.
I think what I like most about this game other than the outstanding community, is the fact that it seems to cater to the casual players. The people who have actual jobs and cant power grind for 8 hours straight.
Example: Say I want to train my Mining up to level 3. I simply right click on the skill and choose the train to level 3 option. The game tells me that it will take 3 hours (as an example) to train up to level 3. I click accept and then do what? Whatever I want! I can go run Courrier missions. I can hunt pirates. I can go look for PvP trouble. I can help a Guildie with a mission they are having trouble with. I can go mine (lol). Or I can log off and go to work. But regardless of what I choose to do, in 3 hours I advanced my skill. I dont have to be mindlessly mining asteroids for hours on end to get my mining skill up. Or kill and amazing amount of npc's to get my Blasters skill up. I simply choose the option, and go about my business.
I have only played UO, SWG, and WoW before coming to EVE and so far I say EVE is by far better than any of them. I'll be with EVE for a long time to come. I think I have found myself a home.
