Or R.E.M. ?
Those are my 4 favorites. But I don't see where they fit in there.
I would still label them as rock, they use a lot of synthesizers and dance beats but they still play traditional instruments. So maybe rock/electronica? My favorite type of music is probably traditional rock but I like everything rock, rap, country, classical, etc.
BTW, pearljam668 I was at the DC show last week and they rocked(pj favorite band) Since someone brought up New Order thought I'd also mention that the Substance compilation is my favorite album of the 80's, every song on that album is good. Close second for the 80's would be Ozzy Osbourne's Tribute to Randy Rhoads one of the first cd's I ever got my hands on. I hated 80's music for the most part, but there were a few gems.
I voted for rock since that the closest thing to metal.
Metallica Iron Maiden Blind Guardian ManOWaR Megadeth Offspring(not metal, i know) Evanescence(perhaps a bit emo, but I love her voice) Manticora Judas Priest Black Sabbath

Yes just read it properly, in any event i don't hold one genre above all others it depends what mood i am in.

Everyone hates that crap and the people that losten to it, i know a kid whose parents died when he was 8 years old and he doesnt listen to emo music or hate his life or anything, that proves that all the emo kids are a bunch of pussies whining about theyre good life compared to others. Emo shouldnt be classified as a type of rock its just a disgrace to the genre.
Rock, ocasionally others if theyre good but i mostly listen to rock.

I despise emo music, too. But there are a few good emo-esque bands that don't disgrace the genre. Try some Death Cab for Cutie, or Postal Service if you like electronica. Murder by Death and Cursive are good emo/scream bands. Elliott Smith is good acoustic rock that most label emo. Wilco is one of my favorite bands, and they are an alt-country type of emo.
I'm just saying, because you hear shit like Fallout Boy being played on your top 40's radio stations doesn't mean they represent an entire genre. Broaden your horizons and sift thru the bad stuff.
I like lots of music realy, carnt say i prefer one over another.. abit of rock, abit of dance, indie and R&B. Out of them all i generaly get the pee ripped out of me from my m8s becuase i like some dance/techo music.. not sure why :x
Anyway a list of some of the music i like
Arctic Monkeys, Basement Jaxx, Bomfunk MCs, Classic Euphoria, Dr Dre, Eminem, Faithless, Fort Minor, Gorillaz, Jean-Michel Jarre, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Ministry Of Sound, Oasis, The Streets and The Verve.
Just copied n pasted the most frequent stuff i listen to on my iPod, quite a bunch of different music
Didn't vote because Industrial wasn't an option, I'm not talking pop-industrial like NiN either.
KMFDM is the pure dope, uncut, straight from the guy. Been going for 22 years, never sold out to a major label, they're the band that sets the standards. been ripped off alot of times but never duplicated, and they're only getting stronger. Check out Stars and Stripes, Feed our Fame, and WWIII by them and try and tell me they dont rock.

There are two types of people in this world - people that suck... and me.
I like trance music. I like it because you can just put it on in the background and it creates a mood without being too intrusive.
I guess I should pick techno though, because most people consider trance techno.
