Hey guys.
I've read through the previous threads, but some of
the responses are so detailed and awesome I thought I might try my luck
with my own thread.
I recently built my new pc, a seething dual
core AMD with a 7900 series video card and a couple of gigs of nice
RAM. Ive been looking for the MMORPG I want to play, to be honest the
only thing that looks really good is Star Trek Online. Ive
played/tried; EVE Online, SWG, UO, AO, Guild Wars, DoAC and more that I
can't remember.
The only reason I haven't tried EQ2 yet is
because a friend of mine was playing it and told me there was no pvp.
This was a while ago now, so has EQ2 implmented pvp?
Im your
old school Ultima Online player, so im looking for a full loot, open
pvp enviroment. Of course there will need to be places I can build my
character before im ready for combat. Does the pvp experience of EQ2
offer this?
Id love a recommendation for a starting character (I
just downloaded the trial, if I like it ill download the full game and
become a subscriber). I'm happy to start out with melee untill I
understand how the magic system works, what would a good build be for a
noob to learn about EQ2?
Also, if there is a specific server for
pvp, would I need to start my character on there or else be eternally
doomed to just fighting the AI?

Well, I just recently got the game but due to my less than awesome
computer, I rarely want to play. I just hate seeing the game on Extreme
performance. .
Anyhow, I rolled a Wood Elf Berzerker. Race doesn't seem to matter much
more than a few higher/lower starting stats and of course your
appearance. I like the class so far, as it seems like a well rounded
damage dealer and taker. I think they can equip all weapons and all
armor.
As far as server and PVP goes. There is one with RolePlaying (Venekor)
and one without (Nagafen). I'm on the Roleplay preffered b/c my name of
choice was taken, and so far the people all seem very helpful and cool.
PVP is from what I know, not nearly as hardcore as UO, but you do drop
one random item for that player on the opposte side to loot off you. It
sounds fun tho I have yet to venture into it.
EQ2 looks like a great game filled with the depth that is lacking in World of Warcraft (which I recently have quit). I really like the little bit I've done so far.
Me personally I am in the process of building a similar gaming rig and should have it up within a few weeks. If you want to perhaps roll a character on the Venekor server just send me a PM over here and I'd gladly team up...Good side of course.
