Hi everyone,
Although It's not directly related to mmorpg's, it could be (fighting and killing doesn't mean guts and blood everywhere right? )...
Here's a new article: http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3173&Itemid=2
I'm sure some of you heard about it already, yet another law in the USA against "violent games"... now read the description of this one: "The law would ban the sale of games to minors if "The average person, applying contemporary community standards, would find that the video or computer game, taken as a whole, appeals to the minor's morbid interest in violence." " - now, doesn't "looting" a npc or a player in pvp is immoral? (would you search someone dead for his wallet?) ... etc etc etc ... you get the picture...
Most games nowadays involve some fighting options in some way, if we follow the wording here... fighting is bad... games have fights... games are bad ... (I truly think Jack lost once too often at solitaire, and try to protect us against this machinery of pure evil) (p.s: that was irony... just in case :-S ).
For whose who won't be clicking on the article:"The ESA has its hands full as of late. Just last week, Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty passed a law that would fine underage buyers $25 for buying M- and AO-rated games. The ESA will be fighting that bill in court." - Well this HOWEVER IS a good move IMO... Games have a rating for one reason... I might not agree often with the laws they come up with, but this one is quite neat - I'd go at 100 personally...
