Stick with EVE mate, I'm an SWG exile too and SWG = Star Wars Battlefront Beta Online. Also no other company in my experience has done a better job of maintaining an MMO and providing customer support than CCP. $OE have a less than desirable reputation in the maintenance and customer support field, if you really want to play SWG I'd advise downloading pac man it's free and has less bugs!

  • lol, Pac-Man is a great game. To be honest I have been trying to get into EVE Online but have found it differcult. I agree with what u said about CCP, they have done a great job with the game but I just feel lost at the moment in it. Not sure where to go next or what to do next!

Why not join my corp? We're in an alliance and on ventrilo and have sovereignty over a system, send an evemail to Agricola Augusta in game if interested.

I'm also thinking about logging back in and checking it out, possibly this weekend.  I was bitter when the CU went live over a year ago and canceled my account.  I wasn't objective however, and I plan to be if I reactivate my account.  If I like it I may stay, if not I'll just keep playing WoW.  Unforunately I don't have the 15 day trial since I logged in several months ago for about an hour to see if my house and goodies were all still there.  They were, but all that time was wasted.

Anyway, I'm from Chilastra so I'll wave if I see you Obraik, though I have none of the expansions after JTL and may never see you.

Thanks for the invitation Agricola1, I will consider it. But the big problem for me with mmo's of all kinds is that I have struggled to play one for many hours like I know many Corps like from there players and the games need to advance. I have played games like WoW, Saga of Ryzon and many others and they all don't appeal to me to stay on for a number of hours to develop my character. I key thing about SWG was that I did recieve help to get into the community and generally start up by a player named Quasi and that played a key part in my enjoyment of SWG because I earn nearly a lot of my possesions in-game (like houses and such) through harvesting and Quasi really helped me out with that. I was basically lost when I walked into Anchorhead (I think thats what it was called). I also joined a great player city (but was soon kicked out for supporting a friend after he was accusted of somethings. Basically I see that as my way of enjoying an mmo! I can't really say if I would be like that with eve, i love the skill system (even if it is a bit weird to get use to) and it's a very free devloping game like SWG originally was. But I'm going to give the trial ago before I decide.....

Thanks again, if I feel that EVE maybe is right for me I'll get in touch with you.....

I went back on there to just after CU came out. lol I kept getting these pop-ups telling me that I needed to rearange my skills or something, wouldn't go away. I also had some weapons taken from me for some reason!

My main character 'Saitan Mar' was doing well as a harvester, especially near the end when i quit because people needed resource and at the time everyone was leaving for WoW so I made good business. I would love to start harvesting again, not sure if you can anymore though. I spent nearly all my time doing that rather then actually developing the skills of my character. I also did a lot of Roleplaying on SWG with him. Knowing my luck my character as been deleted by SOE!

dont know if anyone already mentioned it : in the trial you can only walk around in the tutorial space station , which is nice designed, with voice output , and it actually has some sort of atmospheric star warsy (hate that word too?) environment. but can only get to lvl10 and you cant leave the tutorial station to get into the real game.
you can only visit a near comet/moon with a small dungeon to do some quests (of course they used the geonosian lab map layout and interior for this  tutorial dungeon lol) .

but thats ok, what you would see and experience nowadays is only sad compared to the old game you remember.

I'm sure it is, but there are still elements there that are hard to find anywhere else.  Player housing seems to be a novelty item these days.  Games don't seem to want to go that route for various reasons.  I love player housing.  It's a big selling point for me.  I'm an old school UO player and always had a house.  Though WoW is a good game in some respect it doesn't have that.  Entertainers were also a big hit with Star Wars.  I miss going into the cantina and well you know.

There aren't many games out there right now with much appeal to me.  The future games that interest me are still to far out.  I'm not fanatical about needing everything to be perfect.  I've been around these games long enough to know that will never happen.  I'll just drop my $15 and spend some time in the game playing.  If I don't like it I'll just cancel, if I do well then I may be around for a while.  I play these games for fun, not to stress over details.

I totally agree, I think thats why I got bored of WoW. Plus it was game that told you what to do, you needed to be a certain level to reach a certain area, for me thats just not fun. I also really loved Player Houses and think that was the best part of SWG and was shocked that so many games don't consider it. I loved owning a house where I could roleplay and rest or ang out with friends. That was great. Especially the big houses, for me though Player Cities shocked me. They are a great idea and was really worked well in SWG!

I hate games that tell you how to play, and for me WoW was one of the first. To be honest when I first played SWG (it was my first mmorpg) I struggled to see what the flaws werre. It was only until sometime later that I realised. Do you know the only reason I left was because I was in Anchorhead and two fighter came and killed me. Then called me Noob, when everyone I had met in that game since were great players (plus a lot of other ppl were leaving too)  Even though I had been playing the game for 9 months and only cared in RPing my character.....
