Another year to go

http://www.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=346

Though the game's still a year away, make no mistake - what we saw looked incredibly polished. It was love at first sight for just about everyone on our staff that saw the game at E3.

I'm starting to think the devs just work on this one on alternate weekends in the garage as long as nothing else comes up.

The Devs Anounced they are going to set a firm release date at PAX (Penny Arcade eXpo) this year- wich is in August.

    So maybe this year.

The devs are not giving away even the slighest hint of when it'll be ready, which i think is good otherwise it'll be another DnL.

I don't know about a years time, not this year definetly but late winter/early spring I would see the game going gold... open beta in the winter, best time for it... gives me another excuse to not go out in the cold :)

It's true.  Hell, I don't even work that much.  Alternate weekends?  That's like four whole days a month!  That would seriously cut into my sleep schedule.

    Isildur,

Play nice with the guys on this board.  They really are fans of Pirates of the Burning Sea.

    Guys,

If Isildur is the FLS Dev, he's probably busier than a one legged man in a marathon.  He came up with the economic system that goes into PotBS.  He has tons of recipes, content, facilities, etc... to design so they can launch.

As someone noted above, they plan to announce something at PAX in August.  I think they are getting closer, but they still have a way to go before the game gets released.  I think we just need to be patient.

It's been so long since I've played a quality MMOG that I actually want to invest years into, I'd rather give them all the time they want to polish the game than be disappointed.

PotBS is still top of my list of anticipated games.

i totally agree.  let them take all the time they want, provided it is less than 5 years.

PotBS may have dinked around too long if they are setting up for a 2007 release. Disney's MMO Pirates of the Caribbean is set to release in 07 also, and FLS may have some heavy competition

    Killing Joke,

Actually, the Flying Labs Software folk talked to their counter-parts at E3.  They really are designing totally different games.  Pirates of the Caribbean will be geared more to the younger, family crowd.  Pirates of the Burning Sea comes off much more like a military grade simulation of the early 18th Century.  I'm not saying one is better than the other, but I'm a bit too old to want to play a kid's game.

In addition, I think they have a release date in mind and they plan to release that date in August at PAX.

Your right Rip Van Winkle, my estimate was apparently way to agressive.  What was I thinking?
