I went for three but who knows, even Faces (feces) of Mankind managed to survive and are still struggling to get a player base. It all depends if they have some daddy war bucks who needs a tax deduction.
They will survive quite awhile. The game may even slowly improve over the next 2 years to become something of what they have been trying to accomplish.
But it will be with a skeleton crew and only a couple thousand hardcore fans of the concept. That is going to be one empty World.
I'm thinking they have to be nearly bankrupt already. I suspect they finally pushed this one out of necessity. I'm guessing they knew exactly how unpolished the game was but needed the sales and subscription funds to buy them some time. Now I think it is a race against the clock (all over again) to see if they can whip this game into shape before its too late.
I think it would take a miracle for the game to recover.
I voted for between 6-12 months. I think that probably got enough revnue from the game sales that they bought themselves 6 months, but after that its going to get ify. Eespecially sense I expect nearly all will cancel after the free play time they recieved.
Sadly. they really would be better scraping the game now and taking the money, but I imagine they'd be facing lawsuits if any sharks wanted to go after them. And with good reason.
As a previous poster said, depends on wether or not they have someone bank rolling them that needs a tax writeoff.
Even so, I think this might the first game to actually see legal action for fraud, it being so broken. Depends on how difficult it will be to dig them out of their hidey hole. If that happens, any investors will be gone like a shot and the fold up will be a quick one.
2 months and DnL becomes free to play is my prediction. This game will last, but not in retail form. Once it becomes free, they could then try retail again at some point. I wouldn't mind trying DnL if it was free; I like large landscapes providing they are varied and easy to get to.
Because general impression (non-DnL player, read forums only) is that DnL is full of bugs, bugs, bugs and more bugs. And that first impression counts. If that's the case, roll back to free, fix the bugs, give it time then open Cash Shop/Retail.
Bad publicity doesn't help either, whether you're a DnL fanboy or not you aint gonna convince me now to pay for DnL, nor anyone else who is smart enough to look around before they buy.
I go with 5. That should be around 4th quarter this year. Then they can compete against AoC, GnH, Vanguard, PSU, Pirates, and LotRO. It will be like DnL dropped the soap in a prison shower.
