I resigned a while back, between last November (when I left WoW) and now I've not subscribed to a mmorpg. I've beta-tested DDO, SEED and they were massive disappointments. During then and now I've rediscovered other games and realised just qhat I've been missing out on, not just in terms of the games I've not played but life too . Maybe when I revisit my next mmorpg, becuase of the gap it will feel fresh and as new as it did the first time and I'll get sucked in all over again.
Right now I've got so much going on IRL then I barely even have time to read these forums anymore. I used to almost live in these forums (and others).
But that's another thing too, because life's very hectic at the mo I'm finding that my next mmorpg will have to be pretty casual. Unless I just don't sleep at all. So far I've yet to find a game a just dip my toe in every now and then and get a huge adrenaline rush. That's why Roma Victor sounds appealing, no monthly fees and you can play it how you like pretty much I think it could be good for more casual play.
I've tried several, but none have felt like UrU. When I play a game I want to relax. Many games though ask stuff from me that doesn't feel like relaxing, but feel like real live. I don't want to earn money online in a game. There's a place where I already do that: work. So that's what I look for in a game.
I started with Tibia (great for someone just starting the MMORRG world)...played Guild Wars (so bored... so fast)... did the Wow thing for 2 months of joy followed by 3 months of trying to find a reason to keep playing followed by the final good-bye...trialed CoV (I wanted to play this game for years... and almost cried in disappointment)... trialed EVE (bored in an hour, hated the ship controls, and couldn't standing having to open...close...move 20+ windows).
I have lost all hope for the games that they now have out there. Nothing looks good...especially since I'm sick of Fantasy.... come on. How many times can you cast spells and not get bored??
My hope is deeply set on Startrek: Online and Pirates of the Burning Sea. If they fail... I will fade from MMORPGs with you Durahell. Maybe I will just start buying role-playing books of Firefly or Masqurade or heck, make up my own and have all the other people who lost faith in MMORPGs join me.... but that is the last resort.
