what are TDs?

I'm an old DAoC player (i stopped before ToA came out), and thinking of getting back in. I hear TDs make leveling much faster - which is good for me, because I want to RvR, not PvE. I head that catacombs makes the game a lot more fun, but I am clueless on what this nice 'TD' change is. Could someone enlighten me please?

TD or Task Dungeon's are mini quests into instanced dungeons.. it's a feature available with the Catacombs Expansion.

To expand on this:
You speak to a task master, who will give you a task, something like "Enter the cave to the north and kill all the monsters" or kill a named monster, that sort of thing
you then find the entrance to the cave, and port through. The cave itself is the TD, and is adjusted so all the monsters are just the right level for you/your group.
Aswell as the experience from killing the monsters, you get a sizable chunk for completing the set task aswell.

ah, so you can solo these dungeons? Are they very similar to City of Heroes/Villians missions? I for one really liked them, that at any time I could go online and solo through various buildings/dungeons and get nice rewards. Adds more story and purpose to my gaming than just random killing.

one last question: can you do as many TDs as you please each level? Like are there limits to how much you can do them, or can you do TDs from lvl 1-50 nonstop if you please.

no limits... other than level of each taskmaster/dungeon area.. you can td/tm all the way to 50 if you like.

ie in Hibernia

1-10 td in mag mell
11-20 in tir na mbeo
21-30 in howth
etc etc..

awesome sounds like that fixes the one bad part about the old DAoC - the PvE grind. Thanks for the info all.
