The smell of a new mmo

I am wondering if I am the only one who feels this way. Opening Day. You go early in the morning to find multiple people buying the same game you are and you all exhcange nervous excited grins. Once you get back home (speeding the entire way of course) you have your game box and are all excited to install your brand new mmo. As you install the game you begin reading the instructions to get whatever head start you can and you get more and more excited as you watch the screen shots wiz by while your fast comp is installing the game. Once the game is installed you enter the "Newbie Zone" and see people EVERYWHERE. The Servers are high and you are figuring out how to play the game for the very first time. People say WOAH cool spell and wow! you can go invis!?!? You continue leveling and notice one of your spell isn't working. Frustrated, you report your bug to customer support. That night the servers go down and it looks like they corrected the issue because they were already aware of it! You feel happy that customer support listened and you begin a new adventure with people who are as new as you ready to explore the lands.

I wanna feel that again. I havn't felt that way since daoc day 1. The reason why I tried AA was ONLY because it was new and that turned out to be a bust with a very low pop count LOL. Can you guys give me an idea when I can feel this way again? I am also curious if I am the only one that likes Opening Day the most.

       I agree. The opening day is like playing MMO's for the first time. "Woah! A giant!", "Woah! I can teleport!", etc, etc.

       It's almost like a new, clean feeling.

    Yes, I can remember my first day in There...

    The day my life began... The day I became who I am...

    Its not if its good or not. Its just the new beginning. I mentioned the bug in there because I knew someone would make that kind of a comment. I take the opening day WITH the bugs. Its a whole new experience and you get to see problems fixed infront of your eyes... usually (except AA)

    I don't think I've ever experienced an opening day... *thinks back* Nope.

    So I'd have to vote "a seasoned and developed MMO." :) I do enjoy the learning process...maybe that's why I found/find Ryzom's "steep learning curve" so attractive. And also part of why I continue trying every MMO that has a free trial.

    P.S.: Murais, I love your signature. ::::01::

    The first day is the best if you are really motivated, but the first few months is fine for the average MMO.  I play EQ, CoH and most MMOs in the first few months.

    I would cry like a baby if I can't play BioWare MMO on the first day, and BioWare can't hope to get me in the Beta, my hype is just that strong and I can't accept to lessen my gaming experience on purpose, the same was true for CoV.  It all depend on my personnal hype for a game, if no hype, first few months is just fine and perfect, been in the second or third wave is perfect for me...if I am hyped, I want to be in the first wave and I feel shafted if I can't (thanks again NCsoft, talk about a botched start).

    My favored MMOs is day 1, no beta.  Good mmos lacking real hype, I can do beta or play anytime in the first few months and be completely happy.  Again, I would not care to play a MMO I beta on day 1 precisely, but a MMO I really want to play, want so much I would decline a beta invite like if it was carrying the plague, those MMOs I want to play on day 1, day 2 is a real torture...10 days like NCsoft did me on CoV is ubearable and lead to drastic actions, including deleting characters on another product they run (like CoH).
