Franck:Hi everyone, I'm Franck and he's Super Panda

Super panda: Hi!

F: Super-panda is here to show us a video of a new PC game: Dark
and Light.A MMORPG published by Farlan developped by NP3 released June
5th. So you tested it, and you're going to tell us what you saw, what
you liked about the game, and what you didn't like.

SP:Okay, well what I liked...there's not much to like, that's the problem.

F:Okaaaaay, thanks a lot! See you soon! Nah, I'm kidding.

SP: So it's an MMORPG.

F:An MMORPG.

SP: So you play online, like world of warcraft or other such
titles. The particularity of this game is that you have 2 options to
play the game:

-You can buy the game and play without subscription, but if you
do so, you won't be able to access all the functionalities ingame: you
cannot become a guild leader for instance.

F:I see, so it's quite limited.

SP: to have access to all the functionnalities, you have to subscribe and pay every month.

F:'kay. So, it 's 15 euros right?

SP: Yes, 15. Which is quite expensive in regards to the overall
quality of the game, which is far from being excellent I have to say.

F: you're a bit disappointed it seems.

SP: To put it lightly, yes.

F: A lot?

SP: Yes, a lot. The functionnalities that had been announced by
the developpers are not live yet. The game is not finished. Politics
are not implemented for example.

F:Okay. The world map is huge though.

SP:Indeed, it is huge. 40 000sq km. Which is gigantic. Here let me zoom.

F:It's magnificent.

SP: Yes, but the problem is that it is empty. Here I'm in a village, but from there, it's a trekking simulator.

F: So it's empty.

SP: There is nothing.

F: So if you like trekking, buy this game.

SP: the other problem is that there's no ingame explanation. No
tutorial. You have to find out everything by yourself. And the thing
that made me laugh, is that the help windows are empty. It's a real
theft. Publishing a game in that state. And look at that lag. It's not
smooth. Here 's the config I'm using:PIV 3.2ghz, 2gigs of ram, and a
gforce 7800GTX..so nobody can make that game run smoothly.

F: The engine is not optimized.

SP: It's not. There's a lot of bugs. I've been praying not to crash
while we're shooting this demo. We've been lucky so far, no crash.

F:indeed that's good. But just in case, let's get it over with.

SP: Now look, here it is, that's the game. Trekking. Of course you
have different means of transportation, but it's empty, there's
absolutely nothing to do. Just kill some mobs and grind. And since
there's not many quest, you do this for no reason whatsoever, except
getting levels. So really, really, it's not good.

F: And to top it all, a french studio developped the game?

SP: Yes, they're developping the game in La Reunion.

F: Aaah, that's too bad.

Sp: yeah too bad. It's empty, no mob, no nothing.

F: Ah well, if you appreciate solitude, if you like being alone online, it's a good game.

SP: this game is not finished. I gave it a 6 out of 20 and it's well deserved.

F: I advise to the people watching this video to read the review, it's objective. We won't tell lies because it's french. Shit happens.

Sp: They missed it, they missed it. They were too ambitious I
think. Too small a team, they needed to be modest do something smaller.

They thought they could make it, but they failed.

...

F: yeah, it's really empty...Maybe you can cut a tree or two just to keep your hands busy?

SP: nope, not implemented.

F: ah well...

I bet if someone posts this in the Official D&L Website people would consider it bogus and a sham made by "hatebois".

That's what I did, but the thread quickly disappeared to the 5th page of the forums.

It's not locked, but people didn't react.

I did notice Serpico bumping some locked threads for soem weird reason.
He just added some non-sense in threads that was already locked.

Maybe that post was spammed down for a reason ...
Just bump it up 1 more time so some peeps can see it again over there :D

I would but Serpico already banned me ... again ... permanently.

Bumped it, but my guess is that it will once more drown into the abyss of the DnL boards.

those boys are good at board control. If they were as good at game design as they are propaganda WoW's servers would be deserted

The thing is, over half of what he says in the review is completely incorrect

    [...]

Reasons to Dislike Dark and Light

For some, login is impossible due to various issues.

The world lacks dungeons and content seem to expect.

The customer service seems to be lacking for some.

The events don't pan out as some expect.

    Some abilities are currently buged.

There are other difficult to work around bugs in game.

Some features that were promised have not yet been implimented or have been removed entirely.

Reasons to like Dark and Light

Big world with no zones is a great idea

Being able to play with long time guildmates and friends is fun.

Being able to join a guild and make new friends is fun.

You can grind your character up in hopes that you will be ready for future content.

Some of the Quest actually do work fine so do then.

There are now live game events for the roleplayers and the fighters.

Ok there are plenty of more reasons on both sides of this, but so what?

So basically, the game is filled with bugs and devoid of any content and its only qualities are the basic features that each and every MMORPG out there has.

Rather than opposing the review, it seems to me that he's actually giving it credit :D

Indeed! Seems the only thing good to say is what is supposed to be future content ...which was future content in SOG that never made it.....which was promised for release and has yet to make it..so now has the supreme hype pedestal of "future content" waiting....and waiting...and waiting....
