Looking for new MMO

I've not been on my computer much recently but want a new MMO. Can't play many other game now..

To save on time i'd like to ask for some help on finding the right one... as this site has shown me theres alot.

I played UO from about 5 months after it was released, and until they sacked richard garriot, it was the best game...ever?.... But then EA managed to slowly but surely break it down and ruin it bit by bit. So i tried Everquest, and for a time it was alright... but my heart was with UO.

Eventually i quit UO and picked up WoW after hearing it's praises everyday in work. And was very bored after a few months... its just everquest tweaked abit.

What i want is a game thats similar to the very old UO, skill based(but so it takes time and it's worth it, not an insta great character) and allows you to build a (nearly) completely unquie character.
a trade setup, varity of skills and collection of resourses, that inspires a sense of community.
no restrictions on PvP, ok you have safe havens such as towns but just out in the wilderness yeah you get jumped and looted... it offers a challenge and means you gotta group together to strike out to that new city, or run like hell....and just generally adds some excitment into gaining skill. sure its a little gutting that you lose some stuff... but you learn to carry only what you need.

I know this goes against the quick money making ways of large companies, but these make good games.
Can any of you experienced MMO players shed some light onto this, is there a game released or in development that fits this criteria or do i have to wait till companies or less bothered about making money and more bothered about making a good game??
Sorry about the slight rants but it means alot if only for peace of mind that theres a good game out there.

Hmm, you might want to check out Saga of Ryzom. it has most of what you ask for. you also might like EVE if you enjoyed pvp in UO
