What you dont know is that Kotor got all cut off by Lucas, if you finish it you will think the end was rushed... well Lucas played a big part in it... they thought the story line Obsidian made wasnt fit for the SW universe, and instead of saying it before they had the game done, no... "let's just chop the bits we dont like off" and voila!
I get what your saying, I really do- I acually love the game in so many ways (the player mods were great and the combat/high levels were just fantastic/ at the end you were basicly a god) but...I just dont like the idea of passing blame onto untouchables- no one will hate lucas arts- you can just blame lucas arts for all the bugs and everything because we all will forgive them. Afterall- its lucas arts and we can never hate them.
I played DDO from beta into the first month of service and gotta say can't see it lasting very long in its current state. For the first few weeks it was great, had fun with the stories voice chat was ok and the quest were fun enough. But then you realize just how limited in scope the game really is, a couple weeks into my first month after beta I hit a point where I couldn't help thinking is this all there is? To answer the question yup thats all you get no depth, they say the D and D rule set is in there but it ends up playing more hack and slash than turned based in any way.
So yeah NWN2 is gonna destroy any player base that DDO had in short order I would think. Like I side I didn't even make it through my first month before I moved on to COH/COV as a returning customer.
I still play DDO but not mutch ATM with my toon maxed and them banning accounts for farming chests ingame ..ddo has become almost a joke ..the game is fun in the create an unsual char type of thing but even their they have just left out so mutch in races & classes..
My guild is very mutch looking foward to the release of NWN2 and are planning to det up our own server & build content
as far as ddo surving ??????? but they seem intent on destroying the game instead of making it better ..with all there silly moves ..banning accounts for just playing the game ..banning whole guilds for the same reason taking out chests in popular raiding quests ..adding solo play .whitch is good but its the same quests ..there is just nothing to do in ddo ..it takes about 30-45 days to run through all the content if you arer just a casual player ..but if you like many really get into it then you will be done in 30 or less..

Is this true? Is turbine really banning legitmate players for farming chests?
I went online today to see if I get into a group. So I check to see how many players are online. For it being a holiday alot of people should be online. There was about 200 people currently online at the same time as me. I was logged on about an hour ago. So DDO could already be hurting for players right now. Another possiblility is people are staying offline until the new module comes out.
so it looks like NWN 2 might have an impact already plus with DDOs problem with not having enough content.
Have played: CoH, DDO EQ2, FFXI, L2, HZ, SoR, and WW2 online

Hmm I dunno about you but traditionally in EVERY MMO I've played Holidays are very sparse, population wise. Most folks (especially the older crowd) are out with family / friends enjoying the holiday. I know I barely had time to check my email and post like 2 messages yesterday. Let alone play any game, much less an MMO
That said, DDO isn't exactly crowded, even at peak times on a Friday. I think last time I tried counting it was about 300 people online on the server I play on at 9pmish Eastern. I know only 1 thing about DDO: I won't be subscribing once the 30 days is up. Not unless turbine pulls a miracle out of the hat before then.

Dungeon Master support won't be included in NWN2 at launch. The Roleplay mode has been promised later on down the line.
Since there is no where else to discuss this here I'll ask.
What do you mean RP mode?
And by DM support do you mean take over a creature and play it?
DM support is all of the DM tools that allows you to control and make NPCs, maps, dungeons, your own world, etc. Basically, all of the stuff used to make mods to the game are the DM support tools.

Are you sure it just isn't the DM mode? Eg., where you can log on, control NPC's, spawn placeables and the like? Is the toolset really not shipping with the game? If it isn't, big dissapointment - They better get it implented fast. The 3 official NWN campaigns never really caugth my attention, while a few selected PW's took most of my spare time, during my 2-year addiction.

Tell me again how it's not going to hurt DDO's bottom line? They're essentially the same, AD&D online.... NWN2 being free, player driven, player moddable.... DDO being limited content.... and paying a monthly fee? I'm sorry. I just don't see DDO making it past NWN2's release unless they make some radical modifications to the game in the very near future. Right now it's just an online Dungeon generator. And if you play more than 6 or so dungeons you'll notice very quickly that the dungeons re-use the same pieces/parts over and over. Very few dungeons are actually 'unique' in any way.
NWN2 is going to blow DDO out of the water. I know once I have it the odds of me even doing free trials of DDO are slim.
I don't know if you realize this but NWN and NWN2 are based on 3.0 rules not 2.0... so no AD&D for you!
I think that NWN2 is going to kill a lot of DDO. The game just cannot stand up to what NWN2 is offering. To the poster that said only 32 player can play... this is not correct a all. Obsidian has already said they are looking at a Blizzard style system that can support Hundreds of players as well as letting players create their own persistant worlds that can support up to 100+ players simitaniously (actually... this already happens with NWN1).
Using the toolset is what I can't wait for. I was never good at programing but the NWN1 toolset was handy enough for me to pick up and run with and Obsidian is saying NWN2s is going to be even more user friendly. Just talking about this game makes me salivate. I will probably cancel my WoW account for a couple of months after it comes out to play.
And then there is the one thing that DDO missed. I can't believe they did too. The GM. Having a real person behind the mobs is SOOOOO awesome. The NWN1 DMclient was kind of choppy but it was useful none the less. I can't wait to see how they advance it now.
Basically... NWN2>ALL
NwN2 is based on 3.5
Also NwN1 could only handle 96 player max per server and if you wanted anymore you had to port them to another server.
As for NwN2 and PW's. Still at this point Ob is still saying that it doesn't truly support PW and they are looking into it or we will have to make adjustments once released. MP of course yes...but PW it isn't in the box. As for the 100+ I would have to look that up, but I didn't hear anything about more players per server. But yet the tileset areas are going from 64 Squared to 128 squared.
I quit all MMO's including DDO. Well I never bought DDO, but was in beta. To me the combat system is just too flaky. I think they should have left DDO to Bioware somehow. I am tired of Turbines crap and I have little hope in LOTRO.
NwN2 will keep me from going back to MMO's for a while. Well unless someone does something about all these crappy MMO's.
Originally posted by Shurijo I've been hearing that Obsidian will not include the DM client in the retail launch and the persistant worlds will need to be downloaded to your computer in order to play (thereby giving everyone access to open up and explore the world using the world editor to find out where everything is at). Anyone else hear these rumors?
Some of that Info isa right, but some like the PW info you have there is off... Go here to see what's up.. Only place I would go for my NwN2 needs...

I don't know where that one guy is getting his info (Probably a DDO diehard not wanting D&D fans to leave DDO to NwN2) but the DM Client is going to be with the game and so is the Aurora Toolset as well. This is just some things on how the files are going to be saved and etc with regards to the PW stuff. Shees DM Support and RP Mode. WTH??? Seems like the guy doesn't even know what they are called and are mixing them up as well...It is called the DM Client and the Aurora Toolset.
You all just need to go to the link I have above so you can discover what's going on for yourself rather than hear rumors on here.
