Thanks for the info, Marten! and Dadguy. This is probably not my sort of game, but hopefully things will turn out a bit better than what sounds like a whole lot of mishandling the first time around. I'm wary of UbiSoft since the whole StarForce fiasco started, anyway, (who in that company did the Russian mafia threaten?) and my husband, who works in Network Security, refuses to use any of their products for the time being. This is exactly the sort of game my sister enjoys, however. She's a huge fan of all the Myst games.
I am so not into bashing of Ubisoft, the publisher of the former online version of Uru, the version that essentially never got out of beta. I'm not into someone telling me exactly what happened and why, with regards to a previous version of of online Uru. What we know is that the previous version of online Uru was cancelled. And yes, there were bugs in the previous version of online Uru, and there was, in my opinion, not enough to do in the game.
The nifty thing is that, as I stated before - "that was then, this is now". Until we get into shiny new Uru Live, we won't know what this new release of onine Uru will be like. how it differs from the previous beta version of the game.
One more thing - I know people who got into Uru Live and never got into the Myst series of games. As I said before, Myst, in particular, is a game that's over ten years old. I happen to like Myst a lot, but I don't think it's all that relevent to one's potential enjoyment of Uru Live.

Marten, thanks for the links. My words should have been "Details of the decision are not known to me..."
Signe, thanks for the reply. It will be interesting to see how it all turns out. Interesting comment about your husband's Ubi thoughts....
Regards,
Dadguy
