would you have bought it?

I am sure this question has been brought up before, but I am relatively new. I think it is a good question to discuss. Do people not like the NGE just becuase it is a work in progress, or is the new vision of the game completly flawed?

I would not have looked twice at the game becuase I hate twitch/fps combat.

Just intrested to get others opinions

...I don't think I can even imagine what that would play like.

But, no. The ideas are still garabage. It only made it worse that they went about it in a half-assed manner.

Nope, because when i first saw it advertised and began beta it was advertised live in the star wars universe and create the greatest saga ever told Yours. Skill based game multi classes.

Nge turned it in to what it is today and i would have not even looked at a mmorpg that was fps even a wanna be fps, without diversity, offered.

Now it is the story told by them .

"Now with over 9 -- count 'em -- 9 iconic professions!"

C'mon, how could anybody say "no" to that?

    No.

What alot of people dont understand is what us vets went though, and how much FUN! the game used to be.

Used to be real raids, pvp events, cantina chats, hell i remember when you actuly went the the medical center to get healed, not to kite and sploit vators to kill the emeny.

The game used to have diversity, and it was fun knowing the different temps you could build and take to level up.

Crafting used to have serious competition.

The entire server used to get together to help each other build up.

It slowly went downhill, with the new updates, but the NGE took it to a new lvl

For me the combat could be better, but its the "Iconic Professions" that reuined it for me.

I hate games where you cant create a custom build, or create custom weapons.

Hell i remember the Geo guns. I had 1 with a exceptionl kryat dragon tissue, and a 23% damage slice, and was at speed capp with a speed PUP, but those days are over. Everybody is the same, and its just boring. but w/e, youll see me on the most reliant SWGEMU server when it is released, or if SOE ever caves and creates a classic/pre cu server....... hell i would go with Pre NGE.

Dont get me wrong, there where some problems pre cu, like no rides, no cities, no spaceships, took me hours to run my BH missions, but it was more fun then the NGE.

See ya on SWGEMU or the Classic server

    GL with the NGE

Could not agree more. The original game felt like you were actually living in a real world, there was more uniqueness and diversity. There were many bugs and issues, but none were game breaking for me, I still had fun, and logged in almost every single day from my 1st day in game until me last. I took a 2 months off in Nov and Dec 04, but other than that I spent a great deal of my free time in game, and would have continued to do so had it not been for the NGE.

I loved pre cu despite all the problems, and the CU actually had some nice improvemnts (CH and SL revamp). I guess if SOE doesn't want me or my money, I will gladly support a private EMU server.

I got Battlefront 1 for xmas 1 year, and played it for all of 2 hours. I hated that game, and it was on ps2. I just don't have the had eye coordination to play that type of game.

To be honest I might of... Right now I hate the game because they have bolted crap onto a pile... I think had they gotten it right before letting players get used to a certain style of play they might of been succesful.. This is holding them to being able to put out a good base for a game though. Instead of balancing and nerfing they would of been able to fix the bugs and add quality expanions without having to sacrifice, like now, quality over time frame.

I still miss my old game though,  But only because they allowed me to play it for almost 3 years and get used to it.

    No, I don't think so.

The reason I got this game.  Heck man, the reason I got into MMOs is because my friend said, "This is the most advanced, greatest game ever made."

    He was right.

The first SWG was the only game where I could sit in a chair at Coronet Starport for hours, and not feel I was wasting my time.

This new NGE crap can have me do everything there is to do, and it feels like a waste.

I think it would have done better releasd as a seperte game with its own development. Mainly becuse then all the lies and deception on SOE's part would not have happened.

A LOT of teh anger here is due to those things + the poor implementation of NGE on people without giving them a choice. Yes you could quit when it came out , but if you pre paid they did not offer to refund your money if you were not satisfied. I am not sure how they got away with it except to falsely convinve people that a refund on pre-paid accounts was impossible. One my 3rd account i forgot it even existed so didnt cancel it until its sub fee rolled around. This wasnt the account i played on it was one that i used for teh lots and the toon was a smuggler to slice my armor before selling it , not the one i got in a trade.

I called SOE pointed out it had not been used once since the CU came out and the charge was a mistake i STILL had not logged into in the game. They refused to refund my money. I called my CC company they did their own investigation on it , decided it was FRAUD ( yes thats right FRAUD) and refunded my money out of their own pocket with the intention to collect it from SOE on their own. Wish the CC compay would let me know if they ever did but thats none of my business since i already got that fee back.

this would have happened to me if NGE was a seperate entity so i would not have this other reason to really be mad at them about. This was only 1 of lots of reasons to be upset with SOE's business ethics and practices. But one i can say would not have come up had NGE been a different game.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

In order for this bit of history to have been a success of any kind, they needed, in my opinion, to do these things:

    Not release the CU.

Not release the NGE until it was in its final form, until it was *completely finished and as they envisioned it when they decided to go with it*.

Integrate all pre-NGE skills, animations, and professions seamlessly into the new game format.

Rule one, two and three: take away nothing, add add add, enhance, enhance, enhance.

I played SWG because it was a skill system based game rather than a level based game.  I bought it because you could create your OWN template, decide which skills you wanted and work to achieve them.  If you got tired of them you could slowly train a new profession while slowly losing your abilities in your old one....

I played because the combat system was new, unique, and very detailed.

Beyond that SWG is just the same as any other MMORPG on the market.  SOE has now done that.  SWG is now EQ2 with blasters.  9 professions. Linear Level Based progression, no character class customization whatsoever.  (even LESS than in EQ2).

No, sorry, even if the NGE were brand new with no bugs and 100% of the quests corrected and functioning properly I wouldn't play it.

Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.

I wouldn't no. I do not like FPS style games (no it's not because I am not good at them, I just don't like them, although sometimes they make me dizzy).  The targeting of this game, and the lack of professions just doesn't interest me. Also the fact that everyone is a jedi irks the hell out of me. Ok so before everyone could be but you had to make the  commitment to it. Now you get it as a default?  That is  just dumb, it's just KOTOR online now. Also the fact that professions do not need to interact doesn't interest me either.
