Yes I really do Like this game

I was willing to give it a whirl on the recommendation of someone on the D n L forums, and I read bits and pieces on the game and due to the new patch comming out I had four days to review the lore and basic concepts, I have enjoyed playing in a world with a mature group of users for a change and I do like the crafting system, although asking the older community about the crafting system is very funny, they want to guard there secrets (weirdos) but all in all its been a great three days of play admitedly I did grind it a bit, probably put in 40 hours + in the 3 days which is a bit excessive but well worth it.

I think for all the poor EX Swg's players it might be a good idea to point them in the direction of this game, they will find a few things that they have been missing since the demise of SWG.

Hey Tigercha!  Welcome aboard and glad to have you!  I think the established communitiy maybe a little reluctant to discuss crafting or more specifically - their recipies with you for fear of loosing the competative edge in OP (Outpost) Wars.  Once you find a guild you like and join I think you'll find the lips a little bit looser.

If you have any questions about crafting that you don't find answered, feel free to post here, email me on mmorpg or in game.  My char in SoR is Erom of course.

The guild I'm in, "Team Spirit", was established by exSWG and about 3/4 of our population is exSWG.  There are a lot of other players in our community came from one of three waves of SWG refugees, so definately anyone from that game would have company.  But don't worry, although I have detected some SWG humor and references, I have yet to hear a bitch session break out about SWG.  They're too busy having fun with Ryzom!

reasons for master crafters not giving their uber recipies out -

    1. if everyone can make that uber sword/amp/armour, your not the best no more

    2. if everyone knows the recipie the matierals to make said item will become hotly contested (try to find zun amber and madakoo to see what I mean)

    3. they spent hours upon hours collecting many different materials to make them recipies, why should they just let everyone know.

    4. the person with uber item might one day be trying to kill you

anyways, did you go kami or kara? I might be able to give you some pointers

I phrased this wrong "although asking the older community about the crafting system is very funny, they want to guard there secrets (weirdos)"

But the question was a very simple one that the older players took exception too.

Seriously Guys I have no issue with the crafters guarding there recipies, I was asking a basic newbie question, I need to make Q15 Items and can only make Q10's what am I doing wrong was the question, I didnt ask for there tightly guarded guild secrets or access to the guilds jewels, I have now heard on the forums I did not have high enough recipe to make Q15 I need recipe 2 and I only have 1, which is fine

I reiterated the question, and got the we guard our recipes type reply again, it was quite sad TBH.

But other than that I have met quite a few polite, civil, helpfull team players ingame very quickly and think the comunity is good, but some of the older online players should chill a bit, we all started a new MMO once, or my case several times.

And I did get your points by the way, just stating that was not the case here, I am a lowly LvL 28 crafter trying to complete a quest.

That is a bit unusual. What channel were you asking on?

I am on the newbie island and I tend to ask questions on the Regional channel, rather than Universal. My thinking is, there's no need to spam the whole GAME with my question. There should be someone else on the newbie island (my region) who can answer it. There are plenty of vet gameers who seem to have re-rolled alts to try out the new newbie zone. And if you ask in that region, they know you are a newbie, and thus they will answer you as such. On the universal channel they might be used to people trying to pawn recipes off them and such, and it might have been a knee-jerk reaction.

Still I do watch the universal channel and have not seen anything like what you are describing. I think you must have just got a few crafters on a bad day or something.

I became aware on Friday when I started playing that a vast ammount of the players on Noob Island were actually vets, one took me under his wing and explained the stanzas and where to go blitzkrieg with sword to get my skills up ect..

I generally Talk regional although I do send tell to the Gm's I learned the /who gm command which help find one in your locality.

I think I spent most of Friday, Saterday posting where to find deposits which I had pinned to my map when people asked in channel, again I was lucky to find someone to explain which skills to buy first in harvesting and how exactly the mineral locators worked and helped explaining the stanzas and associated costs.

I havent found a reason to use the univeral chat yet, I am sure in a few hundred level I will find an excuse :-)

    EDIT.

Looks like the guys are having server problems today, from what I hear the German and English server is offline, and the forum is timing out due to excess people trying to find out when they can get there fix.

    points tigercha to ryzom.raum.com

should explain what goes where in each item for you.

I apologise tho, I thought you meant you were looking for specific uber recipies not just general recipies.

send me a /tel in game (mostly after 6pm english time) I'll go through crafting with you and answer any questions you might have, I'll even bring the materials along if I have to

and when you reach 70 heal/ele let me know :D I need a low lvl healer for my 1h spear :P
