However since I must fly to the Middle East tomorrow, I am a facts and figures type of person and I do apologize to any one if I may have come off as being rude, that was not my intent. Please all of you do have a wonderful week what is left of it, and a fantastic weekend, and be safe. Thank you for your time and have a nice day.

Well thanks to the Smedbeast I now have a char in EVE with 17mil sp, and in a couple of months will be flying a Carrier.

As to how he has avoided demotion or a straight up sacking it is quite an achievment. I suppose LA don't care too much about the state of the game until it's time to pay for the license for another year. However I suppose Smed must be turning a net profit for $OE, and is probably using his acquisition of Vanguard to help cover up the falling profits. I believe that when Vanguard is released SWG will be defunctionalised shortly after its PS3 debut. Shutting down SWG will make the books look better to his superiors and make the Vanguard acquisition look more favourable than it really is. Remember when Vanguard goes live the onus is really on Smed to maximise profits, in order to justify his spending. If Vanguard goes down the pan I don't think that even John "Houdini" Smedley will be able to get out of that tight spot!

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

Once it is proven to exist, you'll have to stand in line.

It sounds great, so great in fact, I pitty those who canceled :( - Some deluded SWG fanboi who pities me.
I don't like it when you say things. - A Vanguard fan who does too.

The silent majority have been silently cancelling their accounts and going away to other games rather than being loud and vocal about it like us.

If SWG were going well, and they were gaining more subs than they were losing, do you think they'd have made ANY changes to their combat system at all?  (of course the changes suck)

Have you ever considered running for President. Thank you for your time, and have a nice day.

Man, do the numbers really matter that much to you? It's a huge amount! I mean HUGE!

You want some exact numbers? How's this?

My guild: WoW (Wookiees or Wannabe's)
    My server: Wanderhome
    Guildies: 16 (22 with alts)
Guildies still playing: 0 (0 with alts)

    Here's the math:
22 accounts (yes 22 because you could only have 1 character per server, which incedently I loved, was the only thing kept the economy level) @$15/month * 12 Months = $3960

Sure $3960 may not be much, but we were a VERY small guild.

If 22 accounts are gone from one guild on one server, how do you not think it's possible that 200-200k left?

Have you been on since the NGE? How far do you have to travel to see another PC?

Did you play pre CU? Do you remember everyone complaining about lag in the major cities cause there were too many people (side note: Guess that's one good thing about the NGE)

You strike me as the type to not believe there are billions of stars, unless someone counts them all.

woot! a fellow Wanderhomie.  this has been my server also since launch.

I wonder how smed has managed to keep his job through all this - but i also wonder if anyone including (YOU) would do it any diffrent in his position under the same influences he is!

Smed has a job to do but is he the one pulling all the strings - i doubt it - i dont feel angry at only smed but more wonder how $OE in a whole is managing to get through this.

    a valid point....

first of all i would've used the movies & novels as my rulebook for game play and in game systems, not focus groups full of ppl who dont play the game.  secondly i would've followed the 1st rule of marketing - please your existing customers and new customers will follow.  i work in Marketing IRL so i  know first hand that this rule works.  and as we have seen, when you dont follow this rule, you pay the price.

also, i wouldve marketed the game around launch, and through the first year.  Not around xmas 2 years later when the game was at its all time worst in terms of gameplay and IMMERSION.

i would not remove things and call them enhancements.

and i would take sub payments and put the revenue towards improving the game, not creating a new one.

    stay safe over there

perhaps when you get back you can call SOE directly and just ask them what the figure is, since you seem to be so hung up on the exact number and missing my point entirely.  im curious as to what response you will get from them.

Hell, I will raise your comment and tell you this... until the NGE I by all means was not ever posting against SOE-- I tried to help, was in all -- thats right ALL of the beta tests, from Jedi (yes I have screen shots but cannot not talk much about it) --- TO Obi-Wan -- I was not however asked about the NGE -- I was far from anyone that wanted the care bear game.

In fact I always asked for it to be harder with more risk for Jedi -- not as much normal classes etc..

I would not be posting here if the game was not in bad shape... sorry, but I doubt I would be.   I played the game so much I logged in from work (As I can) --- Not to mention had alot of fun with the crew I was with and city..

All gone since the NGE --- I tell ya, the CU did damage, it really did but nothing compares to the cleaning out of my friends list like the NGE ...  I actually did not think it would be 0, I just did not think everyone would leave but crap they did.    512 man friends list, 1/3 on at all times ... empty -- 0 nothing.  Guild gone.. City gone.. so with all of that said and me being just one person on Bria I know damn well more people took some bad hits.

The CU should have never happend, the pre-CU game should have been fixed plain and simple... it was a WORLD not just one persons experience but all of ours... in a circle of life type deal..

We all needed things and wanted them, there was goals and risks...

What is there now?   Free Jedi, people mad because some of us have over 300 mill and a giant PvP flop -- not to mention the GCW is a joke.    At the summit I was told Jedi was a marketing ploy to get people back or to play the NGE -- this is true, Jedi was made into the carrot.   Sad but true, all the freebee Jedi you see now helped make the NGE.. by all means, the people that could not handle the grind or want to do it may have came back...  But then they found out it's not the same Jedi... its a watered down version of them... so they are not happy as well.

All in all the sad part is that managment and bad PR work could have saved this, now I fear it's too late.

A "do over" is in order almost and that MAY save face for the game.
