Brand new to the game

in Ryzom

Hi all

I have recently downloaded and signed up for the free trial after hearing how great it is from this website.  I'm having a problem though.  Everytime I sign in I experience extreme lag on the newbie island.  I can barely talk to the first guy then I have to log out because my cursor moves so slow.  Does this happen to anyone else?  My comp is definately not a low end machine and it runs other games just fine.  Anyone have any suggestions/input?  Thank you.

    To help the cursor movement: click on System in the pad of buttons in the lower-right corner of the screen, then Game Configuration. I can't remember at the moment if it's in INTERFACE or GRAPHICS, but somewhere there's a checkbox on the right side of the configuration window, "Hardware Mouse." Check that, and you should have better cursor movement.

    Other than that, I'm not sure. There's many possible causes of lag in an MMO...

    Best advice I can give you is to download Klients. The people there may be able to help you. :)

    I've run into the same problem but for me it seems to clear up after a minute or two. /shrugs

    I had a 64mb card when I first started and it was sluggish.  Got a 128mb card and set graphics to high and I don't have a bit of lag.

    I was in Ryzom ealy betas thru retail release

    the game uses shaders and most people

    think the latest graphics drivers is always best

    however if you have a Nvidia card and motherboard

    has a VIA chipset you need to install forcedriver 7.7.7.2

    thats just one known issue

    in many cases lag in Ryzom is due to your system

    just unable to handle the world

    the same is true in Irth similar enviroment as far

    as graphics are concerned

    I left the game because after playing thru all of the betas

    and being highly active in locating bugs and discussing them

    a server error had exempted me from the elders list

    after speaking to several GM's who all remembered me thru the betas

    Nevrax still refused to grant the title so I did the only thing avail to me

    I stopped playing and paying

    but overall the game is fair fun for a month grows old after a while

    the minimum specs are higher than a lot of games, but then the graphics are nicer ;)

    post what you have here or over on the tech support forum and someone will be able to offer some tips for increasing performance.. 512mb ram is the min, and when i first started i had that and some lag issues, runs a lot better with 1gb or more.

    I actually got it all taken care of last night (thanks to one of the GMs), I had the display on "Auto" while it should have been on D3D in the configuration page.  Finally got to start playing and having a blast so far.  And it only took the GM about 2mins to get back to me with a solution.  Very happy.  thank you!
