War MMORPGs

Hello everyone!

I was looking for a MMO that would cut free from the current solo/small numbers perspective to get to massive strategy infantry/artillery/cavalry etc side. I am not talking about thousands of players, obviously, but large ammounts of people.

Can anyone point me in the right direction/s please?

From what I've read about Age of Conan it would suit your needs... Not that I have any idea when it will be released.

Not happenin'. An MMORPG does not (and , IMHO, *can* not) provide any way to enforce the chain of command and the discipline needed to make that kind of large scale tactical maneuvering happen. Hell, people gripe endlessly about how impossible it is to organize raids, and that's like fifty people. You want to get hundreds of players actually executing something resembling coordinated maneuvers? No way in hell.

I've played ww2 online for a while, and i can say...coordinated attacks DEFINETLY occur on an organized basis, also a fully functional chain of command all the was up to commander in chief. Its organized, and a great play.  Planes, Tanks, Ships and softies, its all their and waiting for you to hop in.

EVE has large-scale battles (on the order of 200v200). Of course, its also not a traditional war setting.

planetside is your best bet imho, lots of vehicles that take multiple troops and then usually there is a clear armor column moving across the land. Listening to orders was always a problem and now the new free trial players have no clue whats going on so people will only follow the lead once they have been completely defeated in the previous battle. I never tried WWII online but as I said - planetside is free to try :)

I think that's your best bet. If you dont follow order, you wont survive long lol.... this forces players to actually listen to the leader.
