EA did not scratch UO. Why? Because it was a good concept and a goldmine. They will not touch DAOC for the same reason. They have been careful to ensure that the DAOC team is not altered, uproooted, etc. That says a lot. Nope, I think Warhammer is going to be big, and they will back it 100%.
If they have scratched other projects in the past, they must have had good reason. Nobody kills a golden egg laying goose. Has anyone considered that perhaps those projects were not well managed? If I were the EA CEO, I sure would not want the EA name on an SOE quality product.

ARE YOU SERIUS?!!!!! WTH ARE U SMOKING?!!! hehe have u ever played UO? EA ruinned that game!!! Ask anyone, EA did to UO what SOE did to SWG, indeed really bad choice, Wont be a suprise if war, comes as a WOW clone-wannabe oh well, all I can hope now is that Bioware comes with something new in the market....
I think EA will be good for WAR. I'm pretty sure WAR will not be influanced too much by EA other than have a lot money to make it great. However in the future I could see that EA is interfiering more into the development of the games. EA changed their strategie a bit in the last 2 years other than Sports titles sequels are getting released at a slower pace.
The reason why they bought Mythic is pretty simple they tried to create a MMORPG themselves but that didn't go anywhere so they had to buy an MMO dev team.
First lets remember, GW still owns rights to Warhammer. I believe they themselves can pull the plug on this at any time if it's not being done in a manner they "approve" of. Second, this is a merger. Marc Jacobs will still have ALOT of say in what goes on. Third, W.A.R. isn't due out till Q4 of '07. This will be a oct-dec release in 2007.
I honestly just think everyone wants to vent/complain. W.A.R.'s gaming engine and world are already built. From many articles I've seen they have alot of, if not most of, the content done. They are probably currently ready for beta, but will hold off for a while longer. I think W.A.R. will be a great game and even if EA is in the picture in some way, I'm looking forward to playing it.
I played UO for 5 years. IMHO its still a good game that I go back to from time to time. Yes, they have changed it. Some say to the good and some say to the bad. However, nobody can dispute that it still has a strong following in spite of the outdated graphics. Why do you suppose that is? What can they possibly change in DAOC? Kill RvR maybe? I honestly don't think so. Its the Mythic team working on Warhammer, not the Sims Online staff. So please, don't start predicting "Dark and Light" style doom and gloom not even 24 hours after the announcement has been made. At least be reasonable and adopt and wait and see approach. You might just be pleasantly surprised:)

Not true Viscer. Mythic was 100% privately owned before being purchased by EA. Know your facts before your post.
This is horrible news in my eyes. I hate EA. I think that company will cause nothing but problems for Mythic. EA is so great with mmo's I mean look at that battletech mmo they had in beta a ton of people liked that had tested it. Oh thats right they killed that project to funnel money into creating a Harry Potter game and other gems instead. Hope Mythic's got its pockets lined with cash for this deal, because don't see them making a good product with EA's genius involved.
DAoC has always been a favorite of mine. Guess I will avoid anything Mythic for a couple of years. I still have bad taste from E&B because my wife has only every played that game and still says she misses it. I have never before or since been able to interest her in a game. I have had many disappointments from EA and so will avoid anything they are connected to. I am sorry to know that DAoC is now on my shun list for a while. I don't blame anyone for saying "wait and see" but I have been burned too many times from EA. I figure there are many others who will feel the same way. I hope that EA truly lets Mythic run the show for MMOs and they just collect the money and put the necessary funding back into Mythic.
I would have trusted Mythic to produce anything well and followed Imperator for a long time.
But now that they're "EA Mythic"? Well I used to like Origins games too, but now I'll take anything with 3 grains of salt and wait a year for EA to ruin the product.
No matter how good it sounds NOW, EA is in charge and at any moment their ego stroking marketing folks can start telling the devs at Mythic how to code if they feel like it.
My advice to Mythic devs, check to see if Bioware will hire you.
Now that would have been a shocker, EA? I never had any problems with EA, however, cant say they ever released anything actually good other than FPS games.
I am kinda hurt that Mythic went this direction as well. I just hope for the best.
I still am going to play Warhammer, no doubt. I dont hate EA that much not to play any of their products.
This bothers me a bit, as many have said, I have less than zero faith in EA to do anything more than churn out sports title retreads, and screw up an MMO release.
However, given EA's penchant for the aforementioned sports titles, I'm curious if there would be a possibilty for a Blood Bowl tie-in with the EA -> Mythic -> GW relationship.

This could be an incredibly good thing. You guys are only pointing out the negative.EA is the best gaming company not always associated with the right games. Think of the sims- good games not mmorpgs though.Mythic also had some good games. This could be awesome.
When i was younger the only 2 games i player were The Sims=EA and Age of Mythology and Age of Empire=Mythic. Then i played an mmorpg. Those 2 companies together as an mmorpg is a Good Dream.
A good deal for both Mythic and WAR. With rising costs it gets harder and harder for independants to make any game, let alone an mmog. Now they have the financial backing they, most likely, need to *really* make something out of WAR.
EA has enough experience in the market to know they'd make a bad move by uprooting Mythic, and I am sure the contract hey signed prohibits that for quite a while anyway, so I can't say I'm too worried...
EA will ruining more games now, just like they try to ruin Battlefield 2 with there problems that we are having... If they have mystic, say goodbye to Dark Age of Camalot and the upcoming Warhammer: Mark of Chaos... as they wll ruin that game as well

Microsoft, SOE, Vivendi, even Rockstar would be an improvement over EA.
From the makers of "Deer Hunter", EA now brings you WAR!

mmm, Blood Bowl 2007.
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
hmm...not good
Why EA? They have virtually no mmorpg experience (for the exception of failures)
